End OF Season Depression

I got back into riding this year after a five year absence. 9000 kms since the end of June. Had a blast, but I can't believe the season is almost over. Riding is such a big part of my life that I really have started to feel "down" the past few weeks because of the lack of "saddle" time. I used to ride all year round (except in snow), but am too old for that now. The thought of not riding for the next five months is truly depressing.....

Next 5 months?? You'll get more days of riding still...
What's really depressing is giving your bike for an expected $300-400 job and looking at well over twice that....
I just wanted a valve adjustment. Turns out I need a chain/sprockets, rotors, brake pads, cam chain tensioner...
At least it will be mechanically good as new.

Yep, I hear you. (To the OP, but repair bills stink too.)

I got a new-to-me bike in mid-September. It was a good deal, and was exactly what I wanted and was looking for, but... the weather is stinking these days. I'm getting excited to go out on Saturday when there's a high of 6C... good thing I got those grip heaters!

Even when it is cold and crappy out, it's still great to be in the saddle. I store my bike in my shed and putting it away is easy, so will probably keep going until there's a major snowfall and salt.

I'm feeling a bit down too....

Pool closed,
Raking leaves,
Storing bike,
Shovelling snow...

I probably won't put it away untill the end of November though. I bought some snowmobile mits at Royal, they help a lot...

I have my stands sitting beside my bike, just went out and bought a big jug or stabilizer. Went and filled up my gas can full of 94. And I just can't grow a set to putting it away. I'm going to be optimistic and hope we have a few "brisk" days to ride until snow?!?

I had to put mine away last weekend. I had surgery last week so I had no choice. All this rain has made me happy as I would not of been out and about in it. I miss it! I had a great last ride though.

I'm hoping to get out some more, but I mangled the tip of my finger in a table saw, so that will be the determining factor. Right now I can't get a glove over the dressing.

It sucks every year, I park the bike as late as possible, early December so far every year. But at that point I make the best of it and start planning the next riding season, kill time buying stuff on ebay for the bike and waiting for it to arrive. I also put a fair bit of time cursing the weather. I'll take a winter like last year anytime, first ride was early January, so looking forward to that first ride also keeps me going.

This is my plan as well. A new set of Cobra Dragster pipes, some leather saddlebags and a few chrome pieces for the Stryker. That said, I won't "store" it until the first snowfall.

Cost of Repairs/maintenance don't usually bother me. Bikes are toys and you gotta pay if you wanna play.

Hmmm - put on 800 km in the last week - Sandy be damned- season seems hardly over and I suggest I'm older than the OP.

Decent weather gear and you are good...riding home after dark tonight in the rain sucked but the rest of the day was fun.

In for a tough winter by the looks of things so ride when you can. I however am looking forward to the second season in Australia - the KLR and warm weather beckons.

Hoping I can ride at least to December.

I've been riding for the past 10 years now, and every fall it's the same pain.

I just got my GM2 in the mail this week and have only been riding since September. Just as I was getting more confident and able to relax and enjoy riding it's November and rainy. :( When I took my new to me bike for safety thinking everything was fine I ended up with a $1,000 bill for new front and rear brake pads, new rear rotor, new sprocket and new front tire. :( Even with all that I can't wait until April so I can ride for a full season. While it's sad to store my bike for the winter my lifted Jeep with 33" tires is my other toy. :D

Y'all need a winter hobby . Seriously though, I'm disappointed the nice riding weather is gone but I'm totally looking forward to winter! To celebrate the transition I watched TT3D and Art of Flight.

Yup it sucks! But I remember the rush I felt in March this past summer when we had that unusually warm week and I saw all the bikes out... was so exciting. I'm looking forward to that feeling again! Is it April yet?
