Emergency Tool Kit...

Just wondering if any of you folks ride with an emergency tool kit on hand in case anything happens on the road. If
so, what do you take with you?

I snapped a throttle cable a couple weeks back, and it was a darn good thing I had a set of vice grips and a screwdriver on me so I could get myself back home without calling a tow truck.

Since then I've added more items to my tool pack...but just curious what you guys bring along?

Zipties, Its like ductape for motorcycles

I keep the tool kit that came with the bike, a bunch of zip ties, tire patch kit, and a small portable compressor. And the most important emergency items: phone and wallet.

Bag of pork scratchings, 3 kumquats and a set of brass knuckles.

I left my kumquats under the seat for too long one season because I never needed them. I don't do that anymore.

Most of my riding is commuting - so I have some tape and zip ties and a Gerber multi-tool....and a phone and wallet.

Charger adaptor for my phone, so as to never be stranded with a Dead Phone Battery.

and certainly walllet/credit card are good to always have with you.

as for tools,
i keep what came with the bike (pretty much covers all fairing bolts, sprockets etc) + zip ties.

Vice grips, duct tape, and bungie cords.

i always have my gerber on me, the bike's toolkit (which has pretty much everything in it), I usually have some length (like 50ft) of paracord in my bag, will prolly add some zipties too though. Only other thing i could of would be some kind of lube. then you got your kit of:

-if it don't move and it should; lube it
-if it moves and it shouldn't; zipties/paracord
-if it's loose and it should be tight, or vice-versa; wrench it.

I have the bike's original toolkit, as well as my entire regular toolkit with socket set, multiple wrenches, Allan keys, etc. etc. (it only takes up about 1/3rd of my topcase).

When I'm on a trip, usually at minimum I am carrying bike toolkit*, mini vice-grips, LED flashlight, tire pressure gauge, and a small metric allen key set. So far, the tire pressure gauge has never been useful, but the allen key set is ALWAYS useful. Zip ties are a good idea, I think I will start carrying those as well.

*If your toolkit includes feeler gauges, it is generally safe to discard them or keep them in a drawer somewhere as a novelty.

Oh man, I used to carry a wind-up flashlight. It worked okay, but I was like "this is stupid". so picked up a nice little led flashlight. Only the ride vibrations keep making the batteries explode! Didn't figure that out until I went through the second set of batteries. Now I carry the batteries separately in the toolkit.

In addition to the standard tools and zipties I either rock the full Slime emergency tire repair kit (the tire pump plugs right into my battery tender lead for power) or if space is tight I rock the Red Zeppelin tire inflater and the small/motorcycle tube of Slime.
