these are the 2013 ones that just came out

The concept is cool, but the price and the battery technology just isn't quite there yet.
They're good for zipping around the city but a scooter can do that for 1/2 the price. Or you can trailer them to your destination.

I don't buy the typical cost to charge = $0.63. The giant exposed battery is quite ugly. It has terrible range though, you spend more time charging it than riding it. Also not a possibility for anyone living in an apartment/condo. Run out of juice while out? Good luck....a bit more power than a 125 but the same price as a brand-spanking new 600 SS.

What's the big deal about electric, other than potential savings in fuel? (I still contest that 63 cents to charge, sounds like bull). Not like electric energy is really that environmentally friendly unless its coming from a hydro dam or windmill.

I would only ever be interested in an electric bike when you can refill at some e-station, that was everywhere and could be done as quick as filling with gas. I would never be interested in a vehicle that limits me in the distance from my home plug.

tesla's got it right, solar powered charging stations.
they also have a calculator on their website that calculates according to your tarification how much charging would cost you
