I have the older version of that model. Mine does exactly as intended to do.

Apparently this version will read off of other beacons, which is a huge plus.

Mine is a stand alone unit, meaning i have to set up my beacon each time. And only people with the exact model can use it. ZX600 has the same one and was getting his times from my beacon at Mosport in August.
 
Looks nice! Way better than trying to fumble with my bikes built in lap timer :(

I figure though, if I'm going this route, should just get a GPS based one with logger so I can use software to overlay the data on my videos, so I can see each corner, what made me fast, what made me slow, etc.

good to know thanks, i wasnt sure if this was like so many other items on ebay that kind of work or dont work at all. think i may get this im feeling somewhat impulsive right now.

gps lap timer would be nice. i looked at a timer thats similar to what your built in timer is and has a push button but thats one more thing to do while running down a straight and accuracy on something like that would be within a half second at best
 
im more than happy with cheap so long as it works. the money i save from not buying a gps unit i can put towards another track day :D

I got mine direct from sumomoto (china company). Super cheap but I got digital tire warmers from them at the same time so I saved on shipping. My beacon was setting other timers off so we had to put them all together (I'd assume my timer would work with their beacons but didnt test it). Does what it's supposed to.
 
Good to know thanks for replying. That's all I need is something that works. Don't need Any fancy bells and whistles with it and since I'm not after setting track records either I just want something That's gonna give Mr an idea where I'm standing lap wise within a couple tenths
