Here is my Review on the ESR iPhone App.

Over all layout with Menus and Tabs is good, a bit confusing at first but once you get to know the app and use it more often things becomesecond nature.
“Nearby Riders” Should be Top- Closest riders to you, Bottom- should be farthest away riders
I feel this way because really if the guy is 185Kms away I don’t even want to bather looking at it, I’m only interested in Riders Nearby hence the name “Nearby Riders”

“Discover Routes Nearby” Should also be Top- show thenearest Routes closest to you, again im not interested in routes that are 374Kms away..

“Discover” section does not update properly, I made a post about 2 weeks ago and I just checked today and it says I posted it “An Hour Ago”

“My Garage” is empty even though I added my bike and a few pictures. I cannot see anything in this section. It shows me a blank page.
“Happening now” done well
“Go Ride” done well, GPS is accurate "Lean" doesn't work I leaned plenty of times but at the end report 0,0,0
“Settings” Tab everything is working good and layout on that page is done well.

A Quick Suggestion on the Home Tab
The Menu when your Press “Home” should go.. (this is just my opinion.)

I have the app as well, not much time to use it, but do you know if it can run in background? I want to record a route while using my GPS for navigation...

Overall I like it's look and feel.

@YZFer thanks for posting your impressions. We have a new release planned for next week which should improve a few features. In the following release, we'll look to incorporate your suggestions.

So...
1) Routes Nearby - Should now be displaying the closest route to you in the list. You can turn the phone horizontally to see the routes nearby on a map. There was a bug but it's now fixed. BTW, if you've not riden Deep Bay Road south of Minden, ON - highly recommend it.

2) Discover - If you have your background uploads set to WiFi only, the app will wait until it finds a WiFi connection to upload photos and blog posts to save on data. If that's not the issue, let us know and we'll get on it.

3) My Garage - I know it's not obvious but My Garage is actually a bookmark tool. When you see something in the App you can save it for later, just tap +My Garage and it will add the post to your Garage. Here's how to add posts to My Garage http://eatsleepride.com/c/14809

4) Go Ride - Lean angle will calibrate at 20 km/h. At that point, the App assumes you're at 90 degrees, if you have the app in a spot where it's moving around a lot, it may interfere with the data. If you can send us a screen shot, we can look into it.

5) Definitely, like you're suggestions for the Home tab.

We welcome your ideas. Keep 'em coming at feedback at EatSleepRIDE dot com

Hi @jampy00 yes, you can record the ride in the background, no problem. Just start recording your ride, then run any other App in the foreground or lock your screen. However just be aware that using a number of GPS apps at the same time can drain your battery. A trick to optimize battery is to turn down your screen brightness.

With only ESR open and recording your ride, battery life should last you 6 - 8 hours depending on your device (iPhone 4S, 5, iPod Touch or iPad) and how beat-up your battery is. Also worth noting is that we found the Facebook app is a huge battery hog.
