Earbuds that stay in your ears

Im pretty sure I made this same post last year, but Im still searching for a good pair. I personally don't like the speakers in the helmet - I bought a Sena helmet just for this and Im not a fan. I also don't feel like carving out my Carbon HJC or Arai and trying to fit speakers into it. I bought the new Galaxy Buds but they were just a little too big for the helmet and kept falling out. So I then tried the new Galaxy Buds 2 PRO as they were marketed as even smaller. I've been using them but after 15-20 mins of riding they slowly start wiggling out of my ear, especially when you move your cheeks / helmet.

I had always just used a good ol pair of skull candies with the cord, but now everything needs to be bluetooth. I can't find any pair of ear buds that don't stick out that little bit allowing it to get caught on the helmet. I've even thought about just buying an old phone, downloading spotify via wifi and getting another corded headset. However.....there MUST be a better way. Any other ideas.....I've spent over $1000 trying to find a working solution.

There was a similar but different thread recently about headset speaker, I’ve had similar issues as earbuds don’t fit well for me
@Evoex posted these Bluetooth Archives - Plugfones : The First and Only Earplugs with Music

He posted the liberate 2.0
I’ve had the tab open since cause they look good and I like the shape of the ear buds instead of being round only (round ones have never worked for me) they have a stepped style
Awesome. Maybe @Evoex came say something about them? The design looks good as I agree, the round ones NEVER sit in my ear properly. The reviews for them online are terrible though (Low sound, can't crank the music up, connectivity issues....etc).

What’s the issue with the speakers?
I prefer to have something actually in your ears to block out wind noise. Ear buds serve as a double purpose to protect your ears and obviously provide the music. With the speakers I can hear the music but the wind noise is still passing by your ears in the helmet which I don't like.

I would highly recommend the Liberate 2.0- if you want wind protection/music. I would keep using them today if I could actually hear them over my exhaust...lol These come with a few different tips, 2 sets of the memory foam ones and 2 sets of flanged style. No issues of them staying put with the memory foam. I'm gonna give the flanged a try to see if i can hear my music again.

I actually have a 2nd pair in a box sitting here if someone wants to buy them from me at cost.

I feel your pain @Dr.Manhattan.
I have tried many types. My current 'fully wireless' are the Sony WF-1000XM4.
They will not stay in while riding.

The best that I have found are the Sennheiser Momentum Free, I currently use these on the bike.

I replaced the standard tips with triple trees and now they stay secure. Unfortunately, they are no longer made.
There may be something similar from other companies.

I’ve really liked the Shure line of earbuds. I could use my Shure e215’s for about 8 hours and then my ears would start to hurt, so that’s the only reason I switched to a Cardo Pactalk Bold set-up.

The Shures do an excellent job of blocking wind noise too.

If you can find a set of the Etymotic er-6i’s, those are the best I’ve ever used for moto riding long distances.

These are all corded and not sure if the Shures are now sold as wireless.

I have JBL speakers and wear 3M foam earplugs. No problem with sound.

The correct size foam tips are the key to good sound and a secure fit.
I found the Shure tips wear well if the fit your IEMs ( ear buds really not the correct term ).

I used the Shure IEMs for years and like they are modular and sound good.

Recently I've bee using some Amazon cheapies for my audio books - fast charging with USB-c, easy fit with foam tips.

This works the charm too

Very thin and keeps things in place

I wear earplugs and use the speakers. It may not be super fidelic but I can hear my music fine and the plugs cut out the wind noise. I’ve been playing with the idea of using the earplugs with inserts to block low frequency noise so the music would sound even better too.

If you ever think of going back to speakers but getting earbuds for the sound reduction the Loop earplugs do not jut out at all and are easy to put in and take out. What I wear.

How’s the seal on those with the wind?

Shure SExxx work well for me. Mine are wired. Easy and cheap to buy a Bluetooth receiver to plug them in to.

Most of my Bluetooth earbuds have the stupid battery tail and wouldn't work well. My wife has beats fit pro that stay in while running so they should be happy in a helmet. I haven't tried them.

I have isotunes which are Bluetooth in a pod between wired earbuds that would probably work.

If they are wiggling out, try different foaming (or trees). Lots of people are using the wrong one for their ears. It makes a huge difference in comfort and sound.

What is sound quality like through these adapters?
I'm not an audio maniac, I don't see the difference between the gold-plated wires and the regular ones, but from the regular human being point they quality is good - I use one to play music during the hockey games.

There's a version with AptX codec for $40 if you are that kind of a person.

I do the same. It's counter intuitive to block noise and then try to listen to a music through the earplugs, but it works.

With my exhaust as loud as it is, I don't think I'd be able to hear much. Unless the music is right in my ears it would be drowned out.
