At what time does the DVP become stop-and-go on weekday mornings? I need to get on the 404/dvp from Stouffville Road and exit on Don Mills. I need to be at my destination (Toronto East General Hospital) by 8am at the latest. If I leave at 6am am I good or am I already screwed? I will likely be doing this in the cage :(

Hit or missed but lately it's been pack. 7 and onwards it gets busy

it takes me average half an hour in a car from stouffville main road to Finch Ave., it will be faster on bike. the real jam is at 404/401 and 404 continuing into DVP, I would recommend exit at finch and take don mills down

btw, if you leave at 6am, it'll give you more than enough time to get there by 8am. unless it's raining or some freak accident happens

When I worked downtown, if I hit the 404 at Steeles before 7, it would be ok for the most part. If I slept in a few minutes, it's instant gridlock from 401 to at least Wynford.

If I was you, I'd take icecube's advice and hop on Don Mills at some point. It has a bike friendly HOV lane that will speed things up if needed.

You're right in my hood. I get on at elgin or maj mack, depending on what i see while riding the bypass to elgin (can see the 404 by the honda plant). Sometimes it's ok to stay on, but the exit at finch or sheppard is good to take the diamond all the way down.

It's a roll of the dice really.

Yah, I know about the bike lane on Don Mills. I want to take the bike but this is a job interview and I need to wear a suit and tie. I suppose I could bring the suit and change when I get there. hmmm..

Ummm...why Don Mills and not Vic Park to O'Connor? I ride that all the time and it is never really busy. Takes you right there with no backtracking.

My wife also takes Vic Park off the 401 and swears by it.

ok, if it's a damn interview then you better suck it up and cage down instead. You'll want to wear a suit without too much wrinkles, good hair do and no gas smell. I would honestly just drive down if it's an important event like an interview.

Yes, that is my original thinking.

Definitely take a car. Don't show up to a job interview smelling like exhaust.

The GTA has many negatives and bad things about it
But lately the worse part of living in/around Toronto is the traffic congestion, by far.

Even on the weekends is getting nasty
