I'm happy with their work and price - consider giving these guys a try if you need service

Longer story:
I needed new tires on my 2009 Suzuki DL650 as was prepared to remove the wheels and take them down to Rosie Toes or Heritage based on their reviews and great prices. tsdexter used Duffield Powersports here in Barrie and suggested I give them a try.

I got the tires from Pete's and finally got around to call these guys on a Friday & they said they could do the work on Monday. On first contact, we get a very friendly response. This was matched when we got into the shop. I can't comment on the cost of only the tire-swap as I had some other work done & didn't ask them to break apart the costs.

When I picked up the bike, I appreciated the detailed feedback that I got regarding my chain - something that I thought I would need to keep an eye on given the milage. I get the feeling that he was not just bucking for more business. Also, he really took the time to warn me about taking it easy with new tires for about 100 km. Yes, I knew this, but I thought it was good customer service.

I am curious who else on the forum might have used Duffield and what your experience was like.

I don't think I need to chime in with my thoughts as they were obviously good, since I recommended them. I think jaymurr checked them out based on my recommendation as well, maybe he'll chime in.

Had him swap my tires last week and it was generally a positive experience. Very friendly and the location is near perfect for me. He also warned me about breaking in the tires.


A couple opportunities for improvement from my perspective:
-when I called I had no indication that it was a business, just simply "hello". I believe he uses his cell as his business number because he was driving thekids around when I called. lol

-my quote was somewhat ambiguous. Just "around $100", it wasslightly more after tax (90+tax I believe), and I didn't have it on me so helet it go. In my defense, I tried to get an actual dollar figure out of him 2-3 times and kept getting "around $100". If he would've said "90+tax" I would've been happier than a pig in **** and brought the right amount. Which leads me to my next point

-no electronic forms of payment --cash only. He did tell me this after I dropped the bike off, and I'm happy he did as I never carry any cash on me, everything goes on the visa.

-finally he didn't give me a real time it would be done, just "I'llcall you". I had to call about an hour before he closed to ensure itwould be done. He said it was one of those days that everything wastaking longer -- totally get it.

I'mvery picky when it comes to service and when the little things (like I mentioned above) aren't there, it somewhat sours an experience.

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. He really seems like an honest and trust worthy mechanic.

I'm a senior rider returning to the sport.i met rorry last year when i bought a used 750 honda.he and adam were and are,very honest,more than fair labor rate wise,knowledgeable on all bikes.ok.....he doesn't have the mechanized payment options,fancy showroom,cute secretary.if you want that,go to barrie hd or barrie honda......saving some hard to come by cash,getting personable service,leaving on a safe motorcycle are higher ranked for me.

Thanks , will keep them in mind . Just curious , were your rims scratched at all after they changed the tires ? Wondering if they have a no-mar tire changer .
