Dual-Sport and 'Adventure' Riding course recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a dual-sport or 'adventure' type riding near GTA. From searching around the forum, found www.trailtour.com but without any background in this type of riding (save for a few 'hey, GPS says this was supposed to be a paved, twisty road not a muddy mess' and a single 4-hour ride in Chile) was hoping to get some experienced member feedback.

Requirements are a course that provides a bike (insured against damage) and provides a full-day instruction on basic to intermediate off-road riding skills on a medium-displacement ADV bike.

So far what caught my eye:

Dual Sport Clinic at www.trailtour.com
You will learn: bike set-up, cornering, power slides, tight turns, off-chamber turns, high speed turns, log crossings, water crossings, jumps and hill climbs. Also learn to ride various terrain like sand, mud, rock, hard packed and asphalt. Lunch is provided. Bring your own bike for $110 or we can provide the bike for $250.

Feedback and suggestions welcome.

Check with BMW Toronto, they have an arrangement with a company near Horseshoe Valley where you can take a dual sport course and ride a BMW GS . I registered last year but had to cancel at the last minute. http://www.cmts.org/adventureTours.aspx

Let me know if you go once it is after May 16th

Thanks Starship, i'll check out CMTS, but based on the mailer BMW Toronto sent-out last week their course is either on your own GS or a 'small dirt-bike' with only a 'short controlled ride on a provided GS' added to the end... Not really what i'm looking for (nor am i the biggest fan of BMW Toronto, so....)

Perhaps CMTS offers something different on their own....

Second for cmts. Great school for off road training. I did it a few years back and caught the dirt bug. If you've never done it, do the basic training on a small dirt bike. Everything you learn well translate to a bigger bike.

My wife bought me he one day course for CMTS. I can't wait to give it a go.

I'll be going with Trail Tours next weekend. Will let you know how it goes. It will be my first dirt-biking/off-road experience.

I got a trailtours G/C for my bday! Cant wait to do it...prolly this summer, my buddy wants to come with!

I got an evening's worth, but i think ill pay the extra to get the full day

I've been to trail yours a number of times. Even before I bought my first off road bike. They give you a good transition from street to dirt. Good folks. Great day. Have fun up there. Ill be heading up in early may.

My buddy and I are booked for a full day course on May 11. I ride an F800GS so I wanted to do the half day on the small dirt bike to get the fundamentals and then 2 hrs with the F650GS. Info can be found here.
Before I found the BMW courses, we were going to book the Dual Sport Motorcycle Rider Training which might be what you're interested. I asked some questions about it and seems like the setup is smaller bike in the morning, then bigger 250cc bike in the afternoon for a full day course. There are prices for rentals + insurance (which is what we're doing since we have limited to no offroad experience) so you don't necessarily need to use your own motorcycle.

PM me if you want more info or contact them directly. Reviews for their course seem pretty good.
