So, i downed my '08 250r from a sandy patch in august. had a double ankle fracture so the bike has been stored in a garage the whole time.
not high speed crash around 30-40 though maybe. left rearset broken, some cracks in fairings thats all that i know.
so i went just today to replace the rearset and to test the bike rearsets installed fine but when turning over the bike it will only start with choke on all the way.
runnning really choppy as well and when you give it gas it just drops rpms. easing off choke just kills it. tried letting it run for a bit to warm but didnt get any better.
what would you think the problem is? the sounds its making has random small pops as well.

check the carbs maybe your jets got clogged

i dropped my ninja before as well when i was learning last year coming off the ramp of 401 wanting to make a right turn before the lights and i dropped it when i come to a stop lol. it would turn over but wont start i tried at least 10 times and finally got it started. no problem ever since though

hmm check the petcock switch, fuel hose (if its kinked), air filter and carbs.

I'll buy it if you decide to sell :D

There is a sticky thread in this very same forum about Ninja 250R carb issues. You essentially have a bike that was improperly stored. Go from there.

thanks for the fast replies. from what i have seen from looking around it does seem like a dirty carb problem. Gonna get back and check sometime soon.

was the bike on its side for vary long? leek a little gas on the ground? did you try the prime position on the gas tap? did the bike run well before the crash?

bike ran very well before crash, it was on the side for quite a bit while i waited for help.

with a boost battery, try starting the bike with the gas tap in the prime position, cold start use choke. top up tank with fresh gas shell v power.

how long is whole time? i dont think its the carbs or the battery, kneedragger is the best with these 250s. There is also an ad on kijiji, that guy helped me with oil changes and stuff for cheap, you can try him
