I'd like to refer you to this add... 2002 cbr600f4i

I saw this bike yesterday, made an offer, and flaked today. I'm a new rider and i had to back out. Too much hp for me. He was a nice guy and i feel really bad for flaking, but i'm not ready for it.

It was perfect, except one bolt was missing on the tank.
very clean.

He bought a ducati, and that's why he's selling it.

He had a full hindle exaust and power comander installed years ago and he told me he had it dyno tested when they programed the engine mapping.

the idle sounded good. I think. nothing weird anyways.

brake pads where pretty thick

tire's are bran new, less than 200km, or maybe 300km. I forget. he said there was a coating on the tire's to preserve them until someone buys them, kind of like wax coating on apples. He told me to take it easy for some number of km which i forget.

anyways....
I don't know this guy. I just feel bad for jerking him around. I thought it was a nice bike. And it was obvious that he took real good care of it.
I would have bought it if i had more experience.

Did you ride the bike? How did you determine that it was too much power for you? Did you just start it, rev it and get scared?

Just wondering...

didn't ride it.
I rode one of the 250's at rti, and it had a big pull. This bike had 4 times the hp of a ninja 250. That and all the threads talking about, new riders and too much power, scared me off. I love the cbr's. '99 '00 are my favorite.

Eyes want more than my skill allows i guess.

Good decision, if you are already intimidated before even riding the bike then it wasn't a good idea to begin with. Ride a 250 until you're skills meet the cbr being schooled by the bike is not a good recipe in my opinion.

It's mold release from production, not a preservative, or a wax.

I think it's fine to not get an F4i as a beginner bike. Get something smaller that you'll feel more comfortable twisting the throttle on, and you'll find that you'll learn much faster.

interesting... OP and the selling both have low post counts + both joined july 2012....and OP seems to know a lot of small detail that the seller neglected in his own post... and being more persuasive than the seller..
same person on different account bumping the sale? lol

^ i lol'd. Wouldn't that be the way to do it.

since i made this thread, this thread has 190 views. The sellers thread (since i started counting) went up 50. I don't think i need to feel bad anymore.

i bought a ninja 250 last night. Bought it from NRC. I'd like to praise them, but don't want to sound like an employee. :)

EDIT: @absolute... 4am? Go to bed!

I was planning on going with an 2005 or 06 F4i as my first bike but went with a 2012 Ninja 250 instead. I love the look of the F4i's and may look at upgrading to one next summer if I feel I am ready.

IMHO F4i is a great 2nd bike. I upgraded to mine after 1.5 seasons on GS500F. To be honest, I probably should have stayed on GS500 for another season or two before upgrading, but I love my F4i.

Did u tell him why u backed out?
Or did u just backed out and leave him in the cold?

I called him monday and told him i was backing out and why. He had already dropped the bike off for safety. He was annoyed naturally.

F4i's are amazing bikes, bulletproof engines I've been told.

Someone buy this bike and drive it down to Newfoundland so I can grab some guns to test this out...

I can test it against 3 shotguns, 2 rifles (well, if you REALLY consider a .22 a rifle, 3 rifles)

If you wanna test it against a handgun, just go to Scarborough.
