Done for another year

Well, its official. My season is done. Last weekend I washed the bikes up real nice, ran the stabilizer through them, drained the carbs, pulled the batteries and put them up on their stands. I know that it was 12c at 8am today in Peterborough, but I'm still not kicking myself. Every year I wait until the last possible minute and end up freezing my hands raw trying to clean them up and winterize them in my garage when its practically snowing outside. I'm glad to have gotten it done when it was still warm enough to do it comfortably.

We had a great season. We had a blast at Ride for Sight in June. We had an amazing 13 day ride at the end of July. Went down through NY, VT, NH, MN, and then up through New Brunswick and onward to Windsor NS and then up to Sydney NS where we rode the Cabot Trail. For me the highlight of the trip was riding the mountains in New Hampshire and riding up Mount Washington! The Wife was not a fan of Mt. Washington and informed me that next time she'll stay at the bottom! So glad we did it though. Scariest and coolest thing I've ever done on a motorcycle!

Now, to settle in for my winter hibernation and dream about next season. No trips planned yet, but thinking about a 3 day trip riding around the far side of Algonquin Park and heading up to Sudbury and then on to the Manatoulin Island.

Hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable season. Here's to a great 2012!

I did that trip this summer. Two weekends in a row, Gravenhurst the 1st night (started late) then through Algonquin early hoping to see Moose, then on around the park on the Ont/Quebec border. Great road.
Some big vistas, good condition and fairly light traffic but there was construction/re-surfacing delays.
Spent the night in North Bay (what an arm pit) then the next morning back down the new super highway
that Tony Clement installed between NB and Huntsville. Next weekend was Manitoulin Is., one of the best solo riding weekends ever. Do it next year, you won't regret it.

Too bad you put it away.
I'm still looking at weeks of riding.
Don't complain about how long the winter is when you put the bike away that early.
