On my way to school this morning and had something (not really sure what it is) fly at me on the highway at 115km/h hitting me in the chest/neck area. Luckily it wasn't some sort of metal sheet/block as I would think its impossible to react and avoid something like this. (It was not a chip bag)

Time from when it came in to view to impact is approx 0.9 seconds.

damn.. i was driving once in winter, and a truck infront of me was getting on the highway, the faster he was going the more snow/ice was falling off the trailer, i was swerving left and right avoiding the ice :/ , couldnt really slowdown or stop, alot of traffic all around, i just forced my way around the truck

If I had more time to react, I probably would've been able to avoid that thing that flew at me, but the moment I saw it heading towards me, it was too late. I guess having a video recording allows me to actually know how much time I really had to react (0.9 seconds). It happened as I was passing so it couldn't really have been prevented. Its not like I was riding behind the truck and be able to create space for more time to react.

This, and my fall, are great self reminders of how fast things can go wrong.

Those trucks take GTA's garbage to Michigan every day.

Glad you weren't hurt man.
Last October i think it was...Driving north up hwy 50 just past all the new construction **** around Castlemore in East Brampton---what i believe was a ****ing full sized brick (though it might have been a turtle) came flying across the road right towards me at about chest level (came from the direction of the southbound lane)...i braked hard but it was really just pure luck that it bounced and ended up missing me and hitting the car beside/slightly behind me with a huge thud i could clearly hear through my helmet/earplugs. Scared the living **** out of me. Needless to say- i avoided taking that road since then. Nothing i could have done if it was a 1/2 second later.

wow thats one close call, could of been anything and got thrown in the air from the pack of vechicles ahead of you.

You have a dump truck in front of you to the left. These are notorious for spewing chunks of junk across the highways as they drive.
Watch out next time.

Damn. Be careful out there. Not to say you were doing anything wrong, but I did notice you put yourself in a less safe place on the road. I'd avoid passing on the right if possible, and spend the least amount of time beside a truck that you can. Even the smallest of stones can be shot out pretty fast from the wheels.

Not exactly sure how you can "watch out" for something like this unless you see it coming from far away...

I did try spending the least amount of time beside/behind the truck as possible - I'm on a CBR125 (still picking up speed). I had a choice between being behind a truck, another truck, and an open lane.

Maybe try staying to the outside more (far right of the lane) while passing big trucks?

He was about to take the exit im assuming. Passing a truck on the right has nothing to do with this scenario at all.

You are correct.
