Do I need insurance to transfer the motorcycle on to my name?

I thought I needed insurance if I wanted to plate the bike. on the back of the premit, it asks for insurance #.
I just want to transfer the ownership for now, insure/ get number plate later on.

You can transfer the ownership unplated without insurance but you can not get a plate without insurance

If the bike is certifiable get it registered as fit unplated. When you want to ride it's easy to get a plate without the hassle of trucking around an uncertified bike.

im looking to pick up a 2nd bike but dont want to get insurance on it till next season. just kinda looking for a good deal on a bike then sore for a few months.
