DIY - white light for all fender eliminators

If you do the DIY fender chop (aka the hacksaw method) chances are you can get pulled for riding at night without a white light shining on your license plate. Since all the wiring from the stock bulb should be there, I though about putting in a white LED, but for the life of me I couldn't get it to sit nice and flush with the tail. It would just look like a pimple on the back of my bike :/

I picked up this LED light strip real cheap at a flea market, which conveniently runs on 12V (same voltage as stock bulb). Since the strip has 3M glue/sticky stuff on the back, I had no problems getting it to curve and stick nicely above my license plate. One problem was that anyone following me would see a row of white LEDs under my ***... I solved that by covering half of the LED strip with black electrical tape. The only light that comes out of the LED strip goes down and lights the plate up.

Check out pics and let me know what you think!!

Nice job.

Bye, I think you should move the thread to the technical section?
