DIY home made quickshifter issue.

Hey everyone,

So I currently finished installing my own home made quickshifter using the rear brake switch from my 04 zx6r (636) & Power commander 3.

I enabled the shift kill & didn't touch the shift time or the RPM where the quick shift activates, which is 4K & 65ms.

Everything is wired & mounted properly, but the issue I'm having is that it won't work while I'm riding! It only works when I have the bike on the rear stand and with the tire obviously off the ground.

If anyone could shed some input or advice it would be greatly appreciated. I went to go bang some gears & it didn't work. Feelssadman :(

by pass the side stand. see if that solves the issue.

but its a DIY install...it can be a loose wire...or ANYTHING

Stupid question, but are you shifting at similar revs on and off the stand? Is there a chance that it's only working below 4000 instead of above?

EDIT: What if you make the time longer? maybe it's just hard to feel while on the bike.

Alright I will try that. Appreciate the input.

Yup, I'm only shifting past 4K. When I try to shift while on the road, the lever feels stuck and doesn't want to move. I was told 65ms is fine, no matter how hard I try to kick it up, no go :(

Next stupid question (sorry, never played with a quick shifter before), how are you sure it's working while on the stand?

Try using the rear brake to put load on the transmission while shifting on the stand.

Are you shifting with the bike accelerating hard? On my bike with low throttle inputs it won't shift.

Because I'm able to up shift without using the clutch or letting off the throttle. I just came back from putting some load with the rear brake and it wouldn't shift up!

On the stand it isn't hard because it shifts with ease, while on the road I've tried soft, hard & WOT still no go :(

With no load on the transmission it isn't hard to shift even without the quick shifter (all the quick shifter does I relieve the load),

I would verify that the wiring is correct (maybe temporarily wire up a remote led to the trigger switch to make sure it's actually working).

Is the quickshifter expecting a normally closed switch and you used a normally open one?

Drag the back brake really hard when on the stand and see if it still shifts properly, my guess is nope. What you can do is just rev it in neutral to over 4000rpm then short out the quickshift wires and you should her the engine "burp", then at least you know the PC3 is doing the fuel cut properly and then troubleshoot your sensor from there. Use a multimeter on continuity setting, try and bang it up hard when in 6th gear with the multimeter wires on the shift sensor and see if it triggers.

If you wanna rig up somethin proper get this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/IJR-Quickshi...Parts_Accessories&hash=item19e1213a5f&vxp=mtr

Plug and play with your PC3. Get your stock shift rod cut down to account for the length of the QS sensor, DONE!

Okay so I put a multimeter to the brake switch and it would only trigger if the spring pulled the switch all the way out so the slightest push wasn't able to cut the fuel. Originally I bought a micro contact switch, so I used that and now it works flawlessly!

Here's a vid, sorry for the crap quality, its a video of a previously recorded video LOL
