Couple of us are interested in trying out dirt bikes and was wondering where around GTA has decent price.

Googled Trail Tours and seemed decent around 160$.

Is there any other place you guys recommend?

Trail tours is top notch Great location, I ride the ganny regularly. Motto park I think rents bikes, use the search tool I don't think you will find a bad review of trail tours. Be prepaired to by one it's like crack.

I'm hoping Smart Adventures is good because I'm with them tomorrow for four hours on a TTR230. Bit further than Trail Tours. They have a good reputation.

Lemme know how Trail tours turns out if you go, after doing the M2 I'll probably be anxious to get back on motorized two wheels.

That's exactly what happened to me. Did Trail tours and then bought a dirt bike. Wish I has done it long ago.
It's the cheapest fun on 2 wheels.

smart adventures up at Horseshoe is very good. First place I ever rode

Same. Rode there twice last summer - enjoyed it a lot (Except for the sprained/jammed thumb I got from falling)

Lots of great learning that translates well to the road.

And yeah - immediately after the first time, i started googling the prices of dirtbikes.

I don't know what translates well into road/street riding. It took me some time to get used to the dirt. Some things are opposite. Try leaning into a corner in the dirt like you do on the street. I know tried, doesn't work that well. Personally I find they are 2 different disciplines.

Oh man this is awesome. Didn't know that Horseshoe had a training / off road school. Cottage is 20min from there so I'll be signing up soon!

How's the trail system in that area...Wasaga specifically?

Amazing. Simcoe County is where I do most of my riding. Look at scorra.ca.

Just checked some maps. The closest to me is the 'Ivey Tract' which is on the way to the cottage of Crossland. Don't think I can link without riding on the road from cottage to there, but small trailer would do. I presume a regular motorcycle is NOT meant for these types of roads....or is it?

Went today to Smart Adventures and it was superb. My ten-year old daughter also loved it. I will definitely buy a dirt bike.

They don't rent: you must be guided. The trails they use are private and empty.

I meant things like locking up the rear brake, riding over large items and on uneven surfaces like sand or gravel.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you last sentence means. The forest tracts are a mix of logging roads, double track, and single track. The logging roads aren't much and no I wouldn't take a regular bike on them. To ride in any of the forest there, you'll need to be a member of the OFTR.
