Did my clutch fix itself??

I'm a little mind boggled here...Last week on the 400 I lost the bolt that holds my gear shift lever, I ziptied it and made it home in 6th gear. I had to rev the **** out of it and drop the clutch to build any speed and I rode like this for about an hour.

The next day I noticed my clutch slipping. Past 8-9k rpm I would shift but the rpm's would just sit there, sometimes long enough for two upshifts before the power kicked in. It was ok at low rpm's but guaranteed to slip at anything past 8k rpms.

Yesterday I rode back from Huntsville with the group and it completely stopped...? I rode up on Friday taking it it easy, short shifting and doing nothing abnormal, I was expecting to have some problems on the ride on Sunday because I'm always redlining it trying to keep up, come Sunday no problems...WTF happened??

I already ordered new clutch plates but they're back ordered a few weeks. I figure I will ride around and see if it comes back the next few days, if not I'll just cancel the order. Is it possible that a clutch that was clearly slipping can just go back to normal?

Two theories:
-Your clutch cable was binding slightly, and riding the clutch constantly for an hour got it stuck somehow. Later on it worked itself out.
-You glazed the clutch slightly while slipping it so much in 6th gear, overheating it, but not too badly - the glazing was removed with normal use.

Might be a good idea to check the clutch cable either way.

I have had mildly slipping clutches heal themselves and operate normally for yrs in my car, streetbikes and racebikes.
A few race wknds ago, after a couple hard launches from the grid my clutch would slip at WOT in 3,4,5 gear......after a trackday of riding fairly gently, it was fine the following race wknd a month later.
