About to get my bike insured and hope to start riding April 1st (was counting on March 1st.. but that's obviously not a go).. I remember StateFarm telling me that I have to come equipped with pictures of the bike from all angles before they can insure me.

What's the purpose for this and did anyone else have to do so? Also I don't have a camera lol.. just an iphone.. I figured the day/age of bringing people hard copies of pictures was over!

I had to do it for my car insurance with bel air. State farm wanted to see the bike too so i just rone it to the office and they took pics.

I was with SF for about 20 years up until 2 years ago. I remember having to bring the vehicle by the office, then progress to hard copy pictures, and finally just had to email pics.

Yes I had to. My agent never saw the bike, and I'm sure it's just for legal purposes. I even had to send a picture of my vin that was stamped on the steering head.

I remember being asked and never got around to sending them in.. Was still insured

I insured my first bike with SF last year. I had to supply pictures as well. I just emailed in some cellphone pics, and within an hour I had a "proof of insurance" slip emailed back, printed, and I was out on the bike.

Yep. Rode the bike down and they took a couple pictures of the bike and the VIN as well

statefarm gave me insurance before sending the pictures in (accually thinking of that i still havent sent in those pics) and ive been insured for about a month already

I'm pretty sure your iPhone has a "Camera" option to take pictures with....

I just took pictures with my phone and sent them in through e-mail. Actually, most of my policy was done through e-mail. The only thing that wasn't through e-mail was 2 phone calls. (With SF as well)

Yes. I had to ride the bike to their office to have the pictures taken. They insured me before taking the pictures but wanted me to get there as soon as possible to have it done.

Just went through this today with statefarm, they insured the bike and asked for me to bring the bike down whenever I got the chance so they can take pics.
They took pics of my old bike aswell, and it was a month or so before that was done and for that month I was still insured. Not sure how long you could get away with not providing pictures before they catch on and call you up, if they even would.

First and second bike, all I had to do was take 2 pictures of the bike, and one of the VIN, and email them to the agent. They never asked me to drive down. However I live in Hamilton and my agent is in Ajax.

This thread reminded me that I gotta send in those pics. Last year, didn't send in the pics of my 1st bike well over a month later.

I'm with SF too. When I insured my new 2012 Ninja 250 they didn't need pictures since it was new and from the dealer. My agent said if it was a used bike pictures would have been required which they would come and do when they had the chance.

with SF and they ask for pics too.. I had the dealership send them pics while they were doing the pdi

I also had to send 2 pics of the bike and one of the VIN. Mine was brand new.

State Farm made me bring the bike, too when I used them 5 years ago. The broker came out and took pics himself. I didn't question it much since they insured me beforehand as well so it was just a minor inconvenience.
Since then I've switched to Jevco and they have never asked for nothing but the copy of ownership which I email to the broker.
