Desjardins and some old bikes not found in the system

I called Desjardins today to call for a quote.

My bike is a 1974 Honda CB 550.

The person on the other end said that they do not have the bike in their registry / doesn't exist

I gave my VIN number. However, this does not help because it required a 16 character code; whereas, the bike only have 12.

Anyone stuck in this predicament?

Would it help if i call back and give them the RIN #?

edit:
After my third attempt, I finally got through someone experienced and finally quoted me.

Do you guys think that a 2.3k quote is worth it?

almost 6 years G license (2months), M2 (2 weeks ago).

Many thanks GTAM

Generally, the more CCs, the higher the insurance. There are some exceptions as with SS bikes (aside from SF who still follow the same pattern).

So, for a 550cc, non SS bike, at your age, you're pretty much paying something within the norm.

What would be worth it, is getting a newer 250cc bike, paying less insurance and facing less potential, money draining issues. If you are worried about money that is.

Did you call statefarm? I called many place and statefarm seem to be the cheapest even on a bigger CC bike. For 2.3k give or take at your age that seems pretty fair as i got quoted 600cc for roughly around $1.7k a year.

I thought insurance also take into consideration the class of the bike?

i dont want any new bikes. I was aiming for a more vintage look with the possibility to cafe. I knew that this project will be a money pit. But how satisfying would it be to know you've worked on your bike. Call me old school but this project is a good way for a man to bound with his machine lol.

im still under 25 with 2 minors. Do you think they'll take me in? Ive gotten a lot of bad quotes and this seems to be the best for my age, and situations (see above for details)
