Decent quote?

Hey all. I just got my M1 12 days ago and this past weekend, i took the M1X course with learning curves (highly recommend them by the way!) but i still have to wait till the beginning of October to be eligible for the M2 license. Anyways i picked up a 2011 CBR250RA this past Friday and today i have been calling around for insurance quotes. The best i could get is $704 a year from state farm. That is good no? Im 33 years old and never rode a motorcycle up until this past weekend. i reside in scarborough and have had my G license since 2000. 1 minor not at fault accident 4 years ago and no tickets ever.
Should i get a policy with them at that price? I called Allstate, TD, Riders plus and intact and they couldn't beat it. Any other suggested companies?
Thanks.

Thats the best your going to get with an M1.Seems like a normal rate for you.

Wow!!! $704 is a great rate. Grab it before they change their mind.

Btw, did you get any discount for the M1 exit training course?

At SF it doesn't matter if you have a M1, M2 or M and no discount for riders training.

Yeah, i did tell them that i took the course but they advised me that they don't do course discounts. That's why i was surprised when they got back to me with the cheapest rate. Thanks for the help guys. I think i will go with state farm. Cant wait to be out there riding. Now i just need some plates and a TEMP sticker since i have yet to do a safety on it.
Any places in the east end you guys recommend?

I also got a quote from State Farm for a CBR250 (not RA) when I was trying to figure out which bike to get and was quoted just over $500 per year. I also have other policies with them - I'm a first time rider - about 10 years older.

You have to put your email address as your name for it to work.
And don't bother putting any information in the comments section because I put how long I was licensed and all my stats needed for insurance quotes and they have emailed me twice asking for the same information I already gave them.

Is that 704$ for the rest of this year (i.e pro-rated), or is that the rate you are going to get next year? I have a feeling it's a pro-rated rate.
State farm doesn't do pro-rated, it's always for 12mo, same price no matter what time of year you sign up.

That seems normal for the whole year on a 250cc being over 25 and had G for at least 5 years.
Not sure if he bundled his car, But if not it would be 40% cheaper.

Meloche Monnex does pro-rated coverage. I know that if you sign up now, you can get from now until Febuary for fairly cheap.

704 is the whole year. I asked them for a quote for the car (2012 vw golf tdi) and they wanted $315 a MONTH!! That was absurd to me. They gave the reason being that I was in Scarborough. I'm paying 120 right now with Allstate.
The motorcycle insurance would drop to $32 a month if insured the car with them. Obviously I declined.

I get extremely high quotes for my car in scarborough too. I got one for like $430/mo (but hey, i would save $70 on bike insurance!). There's just some problem with Scarborough and car insurance...
