I was going through my my old pictures and came across my Deals Gap trip folder.

What a trip it was and what a road!

Here is my favorite picture from that trip taken by Killboy.

Mind you I am in jeans because I happened to jump on one of those Chillers "short" 3 days rides last minute to hit some parts of BR parkway on Aug long weekend,,
Then I decided to extend my trip by a few days and swing by Deals Gap. If you look closer to that picture - can see I am throwing sparks by dragging my peg and stock massive pipe - was so afraid to hit my knee (in jeans) to asphalt so couldn't hang off the bike as much,,, Fun times, want to come back there soon :)

Post up your favorite picture please.

That's a great shot, Alex!

I don't have any Killboy-style hero knee-down pix, but here's a poser one, is that ok?

I may need to look at trailering the bike down. I’d much prefer to ride but I’m unsure how comfortable the FZ09 will be for that even with the Seargent (sp?) seat. First world problems. Also the luggage thing but I can make that work with dry bags and my tail rack

14 hour drive through Ohio. Mostly all highway.

Unless you go the fun way through west Virginia, but thats much longer.

I've done both. Nicer to trailer with a few other riders and switch drive.

Second this. If you are going to ride down and you have the time, hit up the roads in Pennsylvania and ride Skyline Drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way to the Gap.
Agreed except that the Skyline/BRP is about 400 miles with a 40-45mph speed limit so maybe pick and choose a few choice sections. I think the lower end is the better (twistier) bit but it's been a while.

2015 during the rainiest trip I have ever done down there. I should have bought some of these pictures too:

And here's a vid of that trip from 2015 with a couple guys off this forum along the snake and the dragon - what an awesome trip even though it was so wet:

2019 it was much drier and I finally ponied up and bought a pic!

That's an awesome pic! Looks like a lot of hard parts touching down from this angle.

FZ09 should be just fine if taking back roads, I have now MT-09 and it feels way more relaxed than that F4i in the picture. I discovered that real issues starts in heavy rain/hail - nothing really protects you - no windscreen, no handguards, no fairing on sides to hide legs behind = this is where GoldWing or ST1300 rule. Plus as Jay said - small tank = have to stop every 200km.. as per luggage - that tail bag and small tank bag - is all i had - super minimalist style haha

On the other hand i am not riding down again until I have a fast barge like Adventure 1290S with hard bags and tall windscreen, radar cruise control, heated grips, etc..etc…. :)

My MT-09 probably will make it there in the trailer or in the bed of a track one day hopefully, we will see..

Nice pics ppl!
