Game is way crazy, the whole concept is fantastic.

Should get a GTAM group together and grab a couple atv's and motorcycles. Go for a virtual group ride!

for those who dont know: A 225 km2 open world post-soviet state and one of the areas hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few who have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population, now infected with the disease.
Go Solo, team up with friends or take on the world as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive.

Is this the zombie game that was a total failure? The one where, if you died, you have to wait X-days before you revive OR you can pay money for instant life?

Or is that War Z? I'm confused which is the good one and which is the crappy one.
 
Warz was the ripoff and crappy one. There was a funny review of some guy who was bashing it since alpha and ****** off the copycat devs, but I can't link to it.

It's like a multiplayer sandbox, yeah?
 
its free, you dont pay for re spawn...never heard of that. prob warZ or something

this is a free mod for ARMA2, which went crazy "viral" so to speak.

the concept is great, you can leave the server, go back whenever to any legit server and your character remains intact.

you can literally just run around the massive map "surviving", until you get some decent kit. Then go on a killing spree.

Arma2 is a perfect model for this game. It is a very realistic military sim. hundreds if weapons, range finders, NVG, etc. You can actually set the range on your weapons and noise levels differ which comes in to play when shooting zombies, etc. its pretty wild.

fun getting a vehicle and ripping around the map running people over and stealin their precious loot..hah

yea, mplayer sandbox on steroids.
but can be played solo, just as fun. If you confront people you usually die...it really shows the true nature of humans.

You can meet someone who is un armed, they seem helpful and run around with you. The second they find a crow bar, your head is getting done. Unless you kill first.

its really funny though, getting confronted by an armed person and they treat you like a total threat. Asking you to lay on the ground, while they loot you.

never played anything like this before, very innovative game.

Its a PC game

you need to buy Arma 2 + OA (package on steam for $15 or so)

then the mod is free

Use DAYZCOMMANDER to install the files and select servers to play. Easy as piss.

but really really fun, read some reviews and google the info. There are over 1.5 million people playing.

It was so successful, they are making a standalone version based on the Arma 3 engine. from the ground up.

Since when you can legally modify an entire game on a console? With a pad, without access to the game code and without keyboard and Photoshop and etc... It's for pc obviously! :D

The game is awesome, I played for the first time yesterday. The first few hour you will day really fast, but then you'll get use to the game and survive longer.

I don't know much about Consoles, who knows, maybe they could've & I won't even know.

Ditto, I almost never play console games.

I watched a few vids on youtube and the game looks sick. Looks like it would be a lot fun playing with some friends you already know.
 
its a gem for sure.

it does take time to figure out...eventually you understand the dynamics of zombie's and how the react to stuff.
AK 47 - makes more noise than a m16 for example, and of course the effective range is different. The Z's will obviously hear the AK further away than the m16. crazy *****.

a few tips if anyone needs

quick easy food can be had, only if you have a box of matches, wood, hunting knife, and something to kill an animal with (axe, gun, etc)
Wood can be cut down from trees. You can cook in houses fireplace, or oil drums

Running to a wharf or dock/pier, the zombies cant get there...its a glitch, but sometimes you need that lol!

also running in to the forest and crouch running is the easiest way to lose zombies.

best weapons are found in Firestations, military installations, air strip and Dear Stands...(dear stands are usually near tree lines outside of towns)

if you want a fun quick death, find a gun. run in to center of town, and start unloading...you will be swarmed by 100 or so zombies.

if you get cut or bit, you must find shelter from zombies immediately and use a bandage...if you lose too much blood you can pass out, die or other effects.
keep your health up, drink water and eat food.

if you let things slip, you get a cold or infection. You start shaking and running slower. its a ***** trying to kill stuff while having the shakes!

there are good map's with loot locations and such found on google, I would avoid these for a bit. Explore a bunch yourself. Then when your more comfortable and think you can hold your own, use the map to find the NW airstrip and big towns. you will find some other players there that will probably kill you with sniper rifles from 500 meters away...fun fun

I'm more of the run & gun type. When i play a game, I dont wanna worry about the boring stuff in life like taking a crap, salvaging food, etc :)

That's why i never played Hitman too much

Yeah.... not going to get this. I don't really want to buy a game (Arma) that I'll never play, just so I can play a tweaked version of it.

They should just do what they did with Counter-Strike and make it a stand alone download ie: Global Offensive

They're working on it. I thought about waiting for it but I'm interested enough that I might just download the mod anyway. I'm more of a quick-pickup-game type of person myself but this seems fitting for a zombie game.

as for run and gun...its totally that. or a silent creeper game...thats the beauty of it.

its more of a trend setter in that its the first game to really test humanity in such a way...thats why it got popular...not for the single survival element or amazingly detailed shooter element.

and for me AF4, same deal...i can rarely sit down and play hours of games...but once in a while at least i know my character is safe and ready to **** **** up...or die trying. Your info is perma saved until you die obviously...then you just respawn by the coast and head for the nearest town to load up or get killed again haha
 
I just watched this demo video of the standalone game. Looks a lot more polished than the mod

It certainly does, however it will be significantly different.
Items have shelf life and wear out, etc.

not sure if it will be as "fun", but certainly I will buy it.

The most annoying deaths are when you spent days getting good kit, go on to a more populated server to shoot some newbs and then a hacker gets in and either kills everyone instantly, or teleports all players in to the far ocean LOL...

the other day this ****er teleported everyone on to a bus and blew it up...was very annoying. funny though
