Damn.

His own words on the matter

Jesus , I read the whole story and really can’t fathom it . I truly hope he can get some semblance of his former life back .
Charges like this , a very public “trial” , most celebrity never come back 100% .
It’s terrifying.

The charges would have been headlines. The retractions would be in the want ads.

Crossing the border you get asked if you have ever been charged, not have you ever been convicted. You are in essence being tried again.

A PS teacher I know went through a similar mess. Obviously not international exposure but lots of exposure in the community he worked in. Sadly, the girl that accused him was trash and he was a good guy. It was hard on him. Complaints were completely unfounded, trial was brutal, not guilty, back to work for another decade.

Horrible, and I'm sure there are hundreds (if not thousands) of false accusations that ruin lives and livelihoods because of nothing more than allegations.

The victims are left to pick up the pieces, while the accusers laugh and move on with their life.

Victims should be able to go after their fake accusers and take them (and their families) for all they're worth. F-them.

If you think it's fun to ruin a life with a false accusation, here's your bill for it.

A good friends brother was dating a crazy girl. She claimed he assaulted her (he didn't, she was mad about something and wanted to get him back). She recanted during trial and charges were dropped. I don't think she was charged for wasting so much time and money and putting him through the ringer. Because he's an idiot, he married her and had a kid with her after that mess. Screw that, run far away moron.

Why don't they name and shame these women that intentionally set out to ruin a guys reputation?
And why aren't these women / 'clairvoyants' held accountable for these accusations?
That's a tough position. Not guilty does not necessarily equal innocent (no comment on current situation, just in general). It just means things weren't proven beyond reasonable doubt which is a pretty high bar. We already treat assault victims pretty poorly and make them go through hell. Naming and shaming if the high bar wasn't reached is pretty awful if they actually believe they were assaulted. I don't know what the right answer is. Maybe play the odds that someone shouldn't get legitimately assaulted multiple times? Make the complainant appear in front of a judge with police and prosecutors for future complaints to determine voracity and likelihood of conviction prior to police pressing charges (or something like grand jury already in place in the US)?

Idiot or genius? He could probably slap her around for real anytime he likes now, and no one will belive the girl who cried wolf... jk .

No chance I'd have anything to do with a woman that would drag you through hell on a whim.

Had an acquaintance back home that hooked up with a girl that was flirting and all over him at a pub once.... turned out she was in a relationship with another chick who noticed the hickies/love bites on her neck... and when confronted for cheating she claimed she'd been raped... cost him a stupid amount of money and time to get exonerated. If she hadn't taken him to her place and there wasn't 20 witnesses at the pub, he'd have spent a fair amount of time incarcerated.

The biggest problem is when there are two people in the room and sex occurs. He says consensual and she says rape. Was it rape or was he expecting a one night stand and she was expecting a long term relationship?

You can no longer blame her because she went there on her own accord. You can't blame her for flirting or for what she was wearing. She can slam on the brakes any time and he must comply. Men have to learn to cope with it.

It used to be mothers warning their daughters to beware of who they go out with. Fathers may have to give their sons the same warnings.

Rape victims rarely stalk their rapist.

Reminds me of the Jian Gheomeshi trial . He raped me . How many times? Every time I went back…..

I don't even recall whatever happened following that whole trial. He's off innocent, and as I understand it justifiably so.

She moved on with her life (?) and his career was ruined.

He's a friend of a friend, and she said he was ruined and is trying to pick up the pieces (this was a discussion a while back now).

I caught the occasional Depp / Heard trial bit on YouTube. In that case she helped bury herself and Depp came out smiling but one never knows how someone else's life plays out over misinformation. For that we would need a parallel universe.

Gomeshi - I predicted he would get off and got tarred and feathered for it. It should never have come to a criminal trial ...CBC knew he was a predator and did nothing....should have been a social justice issue.
There were enough warning signs - at least his immediate superior lost as well.
Talented guy but power tripped on the opposite sex......nothing new.
