Just giving a thumbs up for all the help and advice from the great people at both these stores. They really went the extra mile to help me out when I was completely lost getting my first set of gear and supplies.

Why are all the big stores away from downtown?

Unless there's one I don't know about...

I think GP and royal have more products n have a better price at times.. I guess away from downtown is best since most riders are away from the city and near the twisties!

As you get more experience you will learn to travel for better deals and newer stuff.

Regarding Snow City they wanted to charge me $50 dollars for something trivial for shop time, so I don't go there anymore. I prefer to do all the work on my bikes, myself.

Cycle World is not the Cycle World of Old. I bought carb synchronization gauges from these guys and the hoses were so old they broke off in my hand the first use. Both Royal and GP bikes dont sell anything like this. Its worth the drive to Whitby for the sales. The owner for GPbikes though very successful is still a very nice and accommodating man. He has helped me on several occasions when I was not happy with the service. There sales people are always friendly and very helpful. GP gets my vote. It's also the nicest looking bike store I have ever seen in NA. Beautifully done. I dont work for GP or any bike shop! Gp is selling $700.00 Suomy helmets for $300. You wont see snow city or cycle world do this!

I really want to visit both GP and Rider's Choice to see a wider selection and get a feel for the service level of other stores. But I'm waiting until I can ride there cause I feel if I can't take the bike there, I don't deserve the sales!

imho.... the 2 worst cycle shops..... from my experience(s).

You must have caught them on a good day (1/365).

Dont be fooled.... leave yourself with good memories and never go back.

Cycle World West, out here in Mississauga on Wolfedale Road was not so bad of an experience....

I was in there yesterday, wandered around a bit, and even purchased a few items, will go back for some more stuff, just need to save up the funds, can't buy everything at once.

got a history lesson on the original Cycle World, and how this new Cycle World came to be, the name was purchased only, after the one on Dundas St. went out of business....

but anyways it was a great place to spend an hour while it was raining most of the day yesterday, Billie the nice lady behind the counter was friendly and let me roam around, gave me the history lesson, and I walked out a few bucks poorer but happy that I got some stuff for my bike....

cargo net and tank protector pad, and some gloves....going to go back for a tank bag, another pair of gloves, and maybe some boots, very soon...

I took my 2009 SV650 to Snow City last week for the first time. It was running rough, but I haven't changed the oil in ages and knew it needed a service. Bear in mind this bike only has 5,800 km on it. I asked them to give it a regular oil change, etc. They called me and said I need a new clutch & it would be almost $800, which is way overpriced even if it did need it. I said no, went to pick it up and turned out the mechanic hadn't even looked at it. He took it for a test drive, wrote down exactly what I already told them and said the clutch was shot without even looking at it OR changing the oil, which was all I asked for in the first place.

I changed the oil myself yesterday and she's good as new. Not exactly a great first experience with a shop - seems to me like they were just hoping I'd say go for it and take all my money. Seems like they figured I'm a girl so I wouldn't know what I was talking about.

Everyone in there was nice, but I highly doubt I'll be taking my bike there again.

SnowCityCycle has been great to me. Have no current experience with CW though.

My first bike was from snow city. The gentleman at parts is helpful and more flexible on prices. Only had one service done from them, prices are not bad, cheaper than gp.
