Cycle World - Scarborough

Hey guys,

This is my review of 'Cycle World in Scarborough'. My m4 exhaust came in the mail yesterday and decided today, that i would get it installed by cycle world. I gave Bill who works in service a call at approximately 12:15pm and asked, if i could come in an hour to do the install for my 2007 zx6r...he said, yes. I arrived at 1:15pm and began to talk about installing my exhaust and fender eliminator kit (which i bought for 15 bucks at kapscomotors in pickering). Bill mentioned to me that it would take *atleast* three hours to do everything and will give me a call, if there was any hiccups. I said, not a problem and left to come back home. Fast forward to 5:00pm..i give Bill a call and asked about the progress..he mentions that, 'they close'. Again, i said..not a problem and told him that my bike is my only mode of transportation to work and to give me a call by 5:30pm and let me know because i know they close at 6pm and i work at 7pm!. I didnt get a call back and had to taxi it to work!. My bike is still at the shop..i'm one ****** of customer right now.

Ps: The guys in accessories such as Kevin and Wes are always nice and friendly. First time dealing with Bill @service and It might be my last.i'll let you guys know how much they going to charge me tomorrow (Shop rate is $90/h) and how they will compensate me for my inconvenience.

This the integrated LED light i bought. Which Bill kinda frowned upon (im new to bikes and dont know much about wiring). If having to leave my bike over night was a possibility, i would have considered coming in on another day. Let me know what you guys think.

In your description of events you never seem to mention a deadline until 30 min before closing. If you had asked from the outset if they could get it done before closing, then that would be a different story. Besides, if all they said was it would take "at least 3 hrs" (which is ridiculous for a slip-on) then you can't complain if it takes months.

So far never had to deal ith service but Kevin is always helpful and great prices all the times. Hope this gets resolved for you talk to Kevin maybe he can do something for you, he seems to have some clout there.

I disagree because as i said, my bike is the only means of transportation to and from work. And regardless, i should have gotten my call from Bill which he said he would do.

Kevin is a great guy, knows me well and always provides excellent customer service. The only reason why i even considered doing my exhaust @ cycle world was because of Kevin. Seems like a complete disconnect between parts/accessories and service regarding customer service . I hope they understand why i am upset and compensate the inconvenience that Bill as has put me through.

FWIW I'm not a fan of Cycle World as it is but:

You didn't tell them there was a deadline.
That LED strip looks like a B***H to solder/connect properly.
The pipe probably took half an hour-an hour alone.
I doubt yours is the only bike in the shop.

Not disputing that at all but call the customer and let them know whats going on. Btw, its 11:38am and have still yet to hear from them & they open at 10am!.

Call them. The squeaky wheel get the grease.
No excuses for a small job to be done in a reasonable time.
Good Luck

I dont know what happen to my previous update, for some reason it just disappeared.Too lazy for details. Anyways, long story short..the exhaust install is awesome but the fender eliminator was another story..after explaining to Bill how unsatisfied i was, appalling workmanship of one mechanic and waiting a couple more hours another mechanic named Peter went the extra mile and made me a happy customer. Im not sure whether i will service my bike there anymore though. If i do, Peter would be the only guy i would ask for

From that (seriously??)

nice pipe! did they give you your old one back?

That fender eliminator looks like asking to get hit from behind, I would look for something better or even better put the stock light back on.

your first mistake was....taking your bike to cycleworld!!!!!!! bend over for pugsly, he will bang your wallet. i wouldnt let those guys cut my lawn. cycle world is not a dealership, shop rate 90$ for crap service and over priced knock off parts, run hard and run fast and never return.

I'm a noob when it comes to bikes man. And honestly, the LED strip lights up really nicely. But I can understand you guys concern.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

is that your brake light ?!?!?!?! .. holy crap man, I know you're new and I understand that ... but why would you cheap on safety, if that really is your break light ? . if it isn't I apologize .. but really, maybe you should change that ... On a different note, try not to deal with cycle world again, If I could provide a recommendation for you to deal with an honest shop .... Z1 cycletech will provide you with top notch service and great prices ... as well customer service too !
