Custom Shorty Slip on Yamaha R3

Hi guys,
I recently took the muffler off my Yamaha R3. It doesn't sound like a sewing machine anymore. The catalytic converter and O2 sensor are still present, so there isn't any harm being done to the engine (same amount back pressure as with muffler on).
Does anyone know of any reputable shops in the Oakville/Burly/Hamilton area that could make a custom shorty gp slip on for me? I have attached an image of what I have in mind. I can't justify spending $400+ for a R3 slip on for what you get out of it.
I hope to hear from you!

How much can you justify for just noise?

I see people cutting out baffles and packing so if you are just trying to be louder this will do it. Don't think it's legal and hard to believe without exhaust on the back pressure is the same but OK.....it's your ride

In regards to back pressure, this would be no different than installing a slip on with no baffle (Coffman, Akrapovic GP etc, which have been tested and are safe to use). The noise will be roughly the exact same as Coffman and Akrapovik GP slip on also, just about $350 less. It should be street legal as the Catalytic Converter is still present. Its a 300, not a 600+ so it wont be attracting any attention to cops. If this was a bigger bike, I would invest into it. I won't have it much longer than a year, so I thought this would be a nice little addition.

If you're gonna pay someone to make a piece of bent pipe and paint it, why not do it yourself? Shape the end like a slip-on, flare it out a bit so it fits well (maybe drill a screw hole or weld in some stops so it rests against the mid-pipe, I really don't know) , weld on some spring tabs, do a custom bend and cut it however you want to the tip to look. Probably cost you 25$ with some high-heat paint. A fun project even if it doesn't work out, right? Do a cigarette smoke leak test, forget about back pressure and fart-can away!

I see the shorty piece you are talking about which connects to the Hindlle muffler. Unfortunately I don't think i am able to purchase the 1 piece. I need to purchase a muffler with it :(

You obviously didn't take the hint. You NEED a muffler on there.

It's not a matter of back pressure. It's not a matter of what it will do to your engine. It's somewhat a matter of legality - your vehicle is required to have an effective muffler, and even the Hindle one will be marginal on that bike (singles and twins are hard to keep quiet). It IS a matter of being a responsible adult with respect to the amount of noise you are going to make without an effective muffler on there.

With no muffler, you are going to attract every cop within 5 kilometers, and you can rest assured that when you come over the crest of that hill that the cop is hiding on the other side of, the radar gun WILL be pointed in your direction before the cop can even see you.

With no muffler, you raise the ire of local residents and politicians who then try to ban motorcycles or impose severe restrictions on them (us).

If I, on my superbike, ride past little old granny tending to her flowers, and she does not look up in disgust ... I carry on doing what I love, and she carries on doing what she loves, and life is good, neither one of us is any trouble to the other.

Be responsible - keep an effective muffler on there.

If you look at hindle he was referring to the $95 and the little slip on portion.
Your comment was unrelated to my question. I was lost half way through your preach

Let's not forget too, that with any EFI equipped machine it will run WORSE with this kind of modification - not to mention possible damage from running too lean without a muffler.
I've ridden an R3 with the Hindle slip-on muffler and it performed about the same and was just about as quiet as the stocker. The adapter pipe by itself is a total waste of time.
CBR250s and EX300s are so lean from the factory to meet emissions that any kind of performance modification requires a Power Commander.
All you'll do is save a little weight, is it worth your time ?

I wish I could hear my bike from 5 km away. With no muffler you can't even hear it from 200ft. Remember, this is not a straight pipe. The cat is still there.... Damn thing takes away all the goodness.
This post was about looking for shops to make something up, not for people trolling.
Thanks

A shop or a store, your not going to get anything really cheap more or less what you see by prices and places already posted for you

that being said the only place I can think of that might do up something is

zoro muffler
2580 Stanfield Rd, Mississauga, ON L4Y 4H1

they do a lot of work for cars, x pipes, etc, so they might be able to fab up something, but you will have call or go there and ask

.

I would suggest the same thing is always cheaper to buy ready product if available. Material for the custom pipe on ss bikes is usually stainless with chrome-molly content that any shop can get and is cold bent using mandrel method (preferably for look aesthetics), titanium is something that could be available in a few places in Ontario. For the car muffler shop they have to have the die that would make a fit from your cat box pipe to the end pipe. If you need the straight piece of pipe with connection then it might somewhat meet you budget but i doubt this is the case in your bike, i think you would need 2 bends to look nice. Buy the set up which eliminate all in between, unfortunately the sound will change from the sewing to the loud tractor, that's just how the 2 cylinder engines are. I for example like the high pitch sound better.
