Custom seat?

Hey all. Looking for some advice on a good place to get a custom seat around here. I know that Corbin has a great rep but with shipping to Canada it gets pretty expensive and if I had to have any custom fitting done that would be out of the question. Anyone know a good place to get one in our area?

Thanks in advance.

I ordered a Corbin seat for my 2008 CBR 1000RR. It listed for $259 on the site and was $429 once it was at my door. There was a screw up in the shipping, Corbin admitted 100% fault at first contact, then mysteriously pulled a 180 and refused to do anything about it, without explanation. After 3 months of battles with their customer service department, and showing proof of the admission of fault, in writing, eventually I gave up. It was the most frustrating experience I have ever had with any company. No really, to date it is the single worst.

Avoid at all costs.

The seat itself is very hard, and to be frank not significantly better than OEM. Really heavy too.

Are you looking for a whole new seat, or do you just want a custom seat cover to reupholster your stock seat with? If you do, LuiMoto makes some nice custom covers and you can also design your own through them.

DIT: never mind. Just read you want a Corbin.

The seat on MacDoc's scooter is custom made, you send them your measurements and they send a seat. You might have to send your old seat, not too sure. Forgot the name of the company that made it though.

Just to clarify - not looking for a Corbin really, just something with equal quality that's somewhere fairly close. Either a whole new seat or customize mine. Mine just isn't that comfortable for longer rides (Ninja 650R).

i bought a saddlemen for my zx6r from motomummy for 200 shipped.

Looks pretty good and is quite comfey.

I know this is not much help but seats are like most personal things in that what works for and fits one person may not be the answer for another. I know many riders on different kinds of bikes who like their Corbin seat and a similar number that do not. The same for other brands. So it appears to me that having a custom made seat is the way to go as opposed to an off the shelf from anyone, unless you get to actually try it.

Worse comes to worse, put a gel insert in the stock seat and reupholster it. There's one winter project to do.

I bought a corbin seat for my sv650s this year, had it shipped to US Address to save a few on shipping. Anyways, the seat itself is very heavy compared to stock, and not a whole lot more comfortable. The foam is quite hard and I was told would take 2000 miles(yes miles) to break in.

Maybe try Sargent?

First try padded bicycle shorts before you drop a lot of pennies on an aftermarket seat.

Last year I spent about $300CDN incl'd shipping on a Top Saddlery seat for my FZ6, was definitely money well spent.

A few years ago that would've been equivalent of $500CDN or so (which would be in-line with a Corbin), but since the Euro has been low these years it's worth considering.
