I got a new Monster 696 in April, im slowly going through the upgrade process. i'd like to change my exhaust but just not willing to pay over 1g for a set of pipes, so i found a reputable exhaust shop who says they do custom exhausts, has anyone else done this

are there any issues?
will i get a engine light?
will i need to do anything else?

Thanks everyone for your input.

i have seen some custom pipes online, theres a company which makes custom pipes bike specific, they look good.

Custom exhaust = custom map and tune, reflash the ECU, and probably other stuff.

Arrows are way under $1000. And they look great.

I'm a long time Duc guy and also have a monster, If you can swing it buy an Arrow or Termi exhaust. Yes there are lots of others but these guys seem to have put some research into making it work well on that engine. If you go full system you may need to switch to a DP ecu. If you go to a DP ecu and full system consider a DP airbox as well, then your really getting a benefit.
I'm not sure I'd go with an "unknown" custom guy, there's a lot of goofy sensors and stuff related to check engine lights that could be affected, your mileage may vary, I'm handy, but I really dont want to sort out mapping and ecu stuff on those complicated little motors.

The mechanic at pennisula ducati in oakville is very good.

My SS1000DS had a one off Hindle that worked fine with a PC3. Not brain surgery if the exhaust maker is decent the mapping is easy. The monsters all but the biggest one uses Pantah based SS engines they are about as primitive as they come.Ducati has been using the base engine since the eighties they just keep making them bigger and added FI and two plugs per cylinder. Its the Harley Ferguson of Europe, just keep recycling and add small features giving them a new fancy name, still pretty much an antique. Two valve air cooled low compression , pretty simple stuff really.

Found Arrow cans for $700 plus tax, but will still look at custom option before I decide.
