I got 2 questions , if you do the m1 exit do you have to wait 18 months from the day you got your m1 or from the day you got your m2, and the 2nd question is can you take the m2 exit test before the 18 months and then just wait to hand in the envelope until the 18 month period or must you wait until after the 18 months

The 18 month window only applies if you've taken an approved rider training course, otherwise it's 22 months. The clock for that period starts ticking from the day the MTO upgrades your class to M2. No, you cannot take the M2 exit test/course prior to your upgrade date and successfully obtain your M. More details can be found here:

You can take the M1 exit test at any time after you get your M1 permit (at an approved course). As long as your M1 permit hasn't expired. But you can't hand in the paper work to the MTO until the 60 day period is up. Then once you get the M2 you have to wait a min. 18 months (with an approved course) or 22 months(without the course) from that date before you can take the M2 exit (M lic). Also the M2 is only good for 5 years.

What are you talking about?? You cannot take the M2 exit at any time, that's the whole point of the thread. OP just listen to Acadian, he's completely right.

Acadian and 250R-ICE are both correct.

You can take your m2 any time after the m1 you just have to wait 60 days to hand it in. The same however DOES NOT apply for m2 exit (getting full ), which was the OP's question.

pretty sure he means M1 exit test not M2...

You can take the course right after you get your M1 but must wait at least 60 days to hand in your envelope...

I didn't do the course, just started riding right after my M1, but my cousin did. We got screwed though because that was when the MTO went on strike and we couldn't upgrade, had to wait almost 8 months...However we just chose not to give a **** and rode anyways violating just about every condition.

During the strike if my memory serves me right they had extended the time to accomodate those who's license are expiring

I already got my m2 and I took the m1 exit course and i was trying to ask if you could do the same thing with the m2 exit test where you could do the course before the period then just wait for the minimum time to hand in an envelope (sorry if my first post confused people)
