Cure for cancer FOUND in CANADA!

A quick wiki search on this shows that it's still in clinical trials. You don't just roll this out across the board because it looks like it might work. Also, what looks like it works in a lab doesn't necessarily translate well to a full human application.

Everyone wants to hate on big pharma, but normally there is little reason to do so.

Monsanto and Pfizer should merge.
Think of the possibilities...

That's kinda the point. It's still in trials because nobody is funding the trials because they wouldn't recover their costs. The potential curative ability of the compound was first reported in 2007, and all lab tests to date (including on humans) have shown positive results. You can bet your a** that if the stuff were patentable, big pharma would have rolled out a pill by now. http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/cancercure.asp

This video is almost 11mths old. I thought this was breaking news

^ like if the discovery had been from prehistoric times and STILL nothing had been done
- it would be an even bigger story?

Hellz ya! That would like, totally earn a it's own charity ride, maybe "Bikers for DCA".

Im not one for conspiracy theories but cancer is much more profitable uncured.

Big pharma, the charities, the crooks who claim they can cure it, all need to be fed and cancer fits the bill.

If we don't die from one thing it will be another. There's always something to fight

True. But nothing has caught on as much as cancer. Anyway I do hope they find it and push it forward as cancer has touched in our family and we've had one member die, but 2 others go into full remission after treatment.

Recently had a family member "beat" cancer. During the whole ordeal, I learned some nasty things about cncer and treatment... and money. My family member lived and is expected to fully recover. At one point they shared a room with someone who had the same cancer, but theirs less severe at the time... The died from theirs within months as a lot do... and my family member has lived and is expected to fully recover... and the only difference was money. My family member could afford a certain part of, or additional, treatment that the other person couldn't. It's the cost of the meds involved that makes it unavailable to most...

Health care and medicine is about business.... nothing more.

Many many different cancers, many many different types of treatment. Not all research is allied with pharmaceutical companies, much of it is not (and this would make the career of a researcher if proven) and clinical trials still bring in plenty of money AND glory such that a clinical trial would be very attractive to a small teaching hospital. So, add to that very little buzz in academia over this (I work in associated areas) and finally the number of things that work in animals and fail in humans and you have much much less than the hysterical media clips promise.

I see everyone has their tin foil hats on.

Wait... So you mean I can't blindly believe everything I read on the internet?

Sadly true. Very conflicted industry.

They don't make money if you're healthy. Nor do they make money if it's a simple cure.

And it shouldn't be called health care, because it's not.

Why is this in the motorcycle discussion section??

May not be a conspiracy in the classic sense but there could be a little "not invented here" happening. Some organizations (charities) raise a lot of money to cure cancer, are they willing to give that money to another organization to test their cure, or is the money just for them. How much are these organizations willing to openly share research and help each other out?

This could be a total red-herring but it does seem odd. There was also one in the news a few weeks ago where someone had developed a vaccine for either breast or lung that was a slam dunk on mice, they were having trouble raising funding for human trials...
