Crossing the border with criminal charges but no conviction

If a person has been charged but not yet tried (and therefore still innocent until proven), does that show on the USA border screens and if so what sort of hassle do they get? I know someone who deserves a good reaming.

Yes - it shows up within 24hrs as per my personal experience.
After a brief chat with the customs officer at the booth, I was directed to (without my ID, which they confiscated) and 'detained' in secondary (Niagara Falls border) for roughly 2 hrs, after which, they let me go.
For 2 hours I was asked: "what are the dogs going to find?" I kept saying: "dirt". 2 hours - no dogs.
