Crossing the Border + DOG

Want to see my aunt / uncle who will be in Buffalo for a few hours this weekend, thinking about taking the 'pup' with me....

1. Has anyone does this ? Do they hassel you ?

2. My dog is loud! He will bark out the window - I am going to guess - it will cause issues with the border guards?

3. As per Border info, all I need is (i) Immunization / vaccination record, (ii) he is to be in good health.

Any advise ? I have all his documentations....

Border Collie?

Ya, they're pretty good too.

Just make sure his shots are up to date, same info you need to take him to petsmart for grooming. Other than that, just make sure he doesn't bite US immigration officials. That would be bad.

You have a collie ?.... I love my little guy, he's maturing now - makes it much easier on my. Working on his barking - but tough to break him out of it. 11 Months old...

Wow. Ive never seen a loud Dane.

My great Dane never barked until he was 5. Then he barked in his sleep and woke himself up. He would moan but never bark.

And yes off topic but everything else has been covered. He's not on cities list so you should have no issues.

Associate a NO with something bad. A tug on the ear or tap on the nose. (my guy hated the tug). Doesn't need to be hard just needs to wake him up. Once he associates the "no" with that. Start saying no with a snap.

That snap and a hand gesture can then be used for anything. That's how I trained mine and he was good as gold. Never had to speak to him and never needed a leash.

Use to go back and forth across the border with my old dog in the back of my or my friend's trucks all the time. Excellent diversion.
