Crash - to report or not report

So, my Wife had a small low side crash on Friday. She is okay, but she did fracture her shoulder in 3 spots. We do not have collision insurance, just liability so we aren't going to put in a claim. We don't know if we need to inform the insurance company though. Because she was taken away in an ambulance the OPP did fill out a report. My question is, if we don't report the crash and they check our abstracts when we renew and see the accident on my Wife's, can they cancel our insurance for failure to report the crash?

We don't want our rates to go up from having a crash on her record, but we also know that if your insurance company drops you for failure to report, finding insurance again is tough, and when you do it'll be very expensive.

So, to report or not to report?

I'm wondering how OHIP deals with this. Who pays for the medical services, OHIP or the insurance company?

Driver's abstracts do not contain accidents. They only have your tickets and offences. If she was not charged with anything then contact the officer noted on the accident report and ensure that the insurance company was not contacted.

Was anyone else involved in the collision? Are you 100% certain there are no charges laid? It's true that accident reports are not part of driver's abstracts so, that wouldn't be an issue. However, if there is a possibility of someone else that may alert the insurance company with the accident report, then your wife's insurance will be affected.

Having a fractured shoulder, she may want to report it and take advantage of any rehab benefits and associated benefits such as housekeeping, job loss etc. It won't affect her rates until renewal.

And depending on the insurance company, she may have accident forgiveness.
