Hello, I’m am writing a review today on Kahuna Powersports at 5243 Steeles Ave W, Toronto.
I will accept PMs if anyone has any questions.
My motorcycle had a blown head gasket so I decided to get it fixed back to pristine condition (2000 YZF-R1000). I knew from past experiences that if I brought it to a side shop that there may be a chance that I was going to be over charged and things may not be done right. I then decided that I was going to bring it to a licensed Yamaha dealer where the mechanics where licensed and took courses on Yamaha motorcycles. Doing some more research I found that the man to talk to at Kahuna was Craig Atkinson, top mechanic at Kahuna.
When I first brought my bike in the back of a truck, I had no way of getting it off the bed. I didn’t even have to ask, 2 guys just walked up to my truck and asked if i needed a hand? I replied yes, I have nothing to unload my bike with though. About a minute later one guy came out with a fork lift equipped with a bike platform to unload pickup trucks. Might I say it was very safe, quick and hassle free. All I had to do was get out of my truck and everything else was done.
Some things that I noticed when I entered the premises, is that everybody is there to help. When you first walk in, it is a noticeably clean and friendly environment with an exceptional show room, service help desk and parts/appeal/accessories room. Then for those who have a bike in the shop, once again, you walk in the back and everything is very well organized. From how they store their bikes and parts to where the mechanics work there magic. I don’t think I have anything bad to say about this section. If something came to my mind where I felt something needed to be said about this establishment in a negative way, I wouldn't hold back, this is after all a review.
There are many differences that set him apart from other mechanics. To list a few: he’s not lazy, actually cares, his knowledge is not limited, he’s innovative, accurate, detailed, highly experienced, there to give tips/pointers and knowledge and most importantly to make sure your bike is safe and reliable when complete and ready to leave the shop. He works day and night if needed and I, personally after experiencing his work, would not let anybody else touch my bike other than Craig A. Craig is a semi-retired Pro Racer and has held several championships and lap records just in Canada. He is also known for working on Frank Trombino’s motorcycle, who has won Canadian National and Regional Championships, John McDonald's Supertwin motorcycle from Isle of Man, also Jordan Szoke and many others.
In my final analysis I will be going back to Kahuna, they now have me for life.
