Post the name of the facility that isn't complying with covid rules and safety.

Innocente Craft Brewery. Great beer. But no masks.

Any Walmart. Total shitshow.

Skip the Dishes. No masks.

I know people that called around to government agencies to attempt to alter the behaviour of a workplace that was bending the rules. They got bounced to multiple agencies but the results in the end were "if the business is an essential service and management says the role must be done on site, there is no mechanism available for enforcement". wtf. The sheer volume of toothless guidelines these knobs publish is astounding.

In similar news, Douggie doesn't plan on shutting down the church anytime soon. Maybe he is planning on sending in a plague cow to smite them.

this is pretty much the case with any/all government enforcement isnt it? I know a bunch of places pre covid that were blatantly breaking the law, labor laws etc but the ministry of labor is basically toothless and useless

I imagine it hasnt gotten better since covid

You missed your chance . East Germany would have been your haven .

Last weekend I took my son bicycle riding at Centennial Park, so he could burn some energy (selfishly so he'd go to bed easily)

We passed a parked police cruiser at the bottom of the ski hill (to prevent people from tobogganing)

Anyhow, as I passed the cruiser, there was an older couple bicycling the opposite direction at the same point.

The old white man, stop at the cruiser and said "Excuse me! Excuse me! There are some boys playing hockey over at they pond. I thought you should know"

(background - there are designated places where people can ice skate publically, no hockey allowed. The pond at Centennial Park is not designated area for skating)

I said to myself "wtf, he ratted out some boys having fun". Why not let them continue playing hockey? I'm sure it's better than having them in the house playing video games.

End of rant

That's the giant piece of the puzzle that is missing. If people arent going to follow the rules, they arent going to follow the rules. Shut down ski hills and hey olay hockey. Shut down hockey and they go tobogganing. Shut down to planning and they play video games inside. Along the path, you had no effect on them hanging out in a group, you just pushed them into activities with less monitoring and higher transmission risk.

This is exactly the issue. People that aren’t following the rules aren’t going to follow the rules.

Wanna make some quick fines. Go through cottage country and spot check properties for gatherings. 100% you’ll find a bunch of people chilling and hanging out. Hell you might even find the Ford family hanging out together.

Apparently it's more of a problem in TO, York and Peel, you know the places with the highest COVID numbers.

Any store that's allowed to be open here in Orangeville is very strict on mask wearing within their premises and I'm including the Walmart in town. I have not seen any facility that is failing to follow the rules, nor customers flaunting the rules while inside doing their shopping. I feel there should be more stores (Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Home Hardware to name a few) that should also be allowed to open under the same rules.

The current shut down is unnecessary for the vast majority of the Province. It's a clear example of the definition of insanity, you know doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

I know your comment was missing the sarcasm emoji.
I grew up in the 50's and 60's.I am aware of what a communist threat is. Your quip misses by a Long shot.

You mean those times when your friends and family would disappear in the middle of the night never to be seen again?

Go talk to some people that lived through it. They will not remember it fondly, except for those in the party.

EDIT: if I didn’t like my neighbour all it would take is a call ‘hey guys, I think @pfbmgd is up to no good...he looks kinda shady.’ Few days later your neighbour is nowhere to be found.

I knew a family that got out of East Germany. If you had a skill or trade you got shipped to Russia so they could suck your brains.

I asked my dad one day how he actually got out of Poland as the borders were guarded and tightly controlled.

A church in Guelph was issuing visa invitations (yes these were a thing) to Polish people under false pretences. He got on a train, hid under one of the benches, and didn’t get off until they reached West Berlin.

made his way to Canada and we joined him 2 years later after the collapse. My parents lost everything to leave Canada. Property, stores, banks frozen everything. They got royally ****** because a year later and they would’ve been able to keep everything.

The land they were forced to give up houses a major mall now....if they were able to keep it life would be different. C’est la vie.

Mixed emotions: We can't arbitrarily make our own laws. Sometimes what seems innocent in the short term has negative consequences in the long haul.

That said, I used to skate on Grenadier pond and the duck ponds in High Park. Winters were colder back then and the ice solid. We took our own shovels to clear the ice and no Covid.

The argument is basically "What if"

-what if someone fell through ice that had not been tested in accordance with some specification from the Ice Safety Association of Planet Earth?

-what if someone drowned, the parents sued and all ponds on the planet had to be fenced in with chain link?

-what if the drown victim needed a respirator?

I don't see the argument being over the use of the ice but rather figuring out how you play hockey while social distancing. Pleasure skating doesn't have the same problem. Practice shots on goal would probably be OK.

While the government distracts you with lock downs and masks . While you are ratting out your fellow citizen . They want to pass legislation to limit your right to information .

New rules for Canadians returning from abroad . Will be forced into federal "holding centers" to quarantine . Several here will be very happy .

Theres not that much "forcing". If you dont want it to happen, just avoid international travel. Very easy. Or travel internationally, but just dont re-enter Canada, that works too.

Love it.

Pfft, I'd wear out my keyboard if I started rhyming off all the places I see on a weekly basis that are totally and completely not even close to being in compliance.

Suffice to say it's no surprise to me at all why we're in our current situation. Employers who just don't care or are making lacklustre efforts at best are driving transmission right now. I see it every....single.....day....
