A friends kid has his M2 and wants to take his final course / test but has no bike (would like to borrow mine - NEVER HAPPEN!!)
Are there courses that include the final test on a bike they provide??

Not that I'm aware of.

Some have "rented" bikes off kijiji to do their tests.

I'm sure those "renters" haven't told their insurance company they are doing it as a business...

Smaller stuff. Cbr125, 250s etc.

Super sketchy though.

As long as the bike is mechanically sound, and insured, it doesn't matter who owns it.

Didn't "GTA Exotics" or some similar legit business used to do day rentals?

Calling @Evoex .....
No motorcycles are provided for the M. You can rent or borrow one, as long as the registration and insurance is valid we don't really care. Must be in roadworthy condition (lights/horn/mirrors, etc).

Correct @matt365 , GTA Exotics rents bike and I've had students go there, but it's steep. iirc $400/day+ for a 300.

I would caution against renting from kijiji, as it's unlikely they have appropriate insurance and said policy could be found void if an accident occurred during a 'rental period.'

Had a few people borrow bikes from close friends over the years.
I don't even do test rides on my bike when selling it.

I'll let good friends ride my bike and swap rides with people if they appear able to ride, but this kid is just not one of those folks.
Guess he's SOL and I have to tell his ol man.
Thanks all.

I already had my M when I got back into biking 20 ish years ago and took the course at Humber as a refresher. I rode my 1200 Sportster there and transitioned to a 250 Japanese cruiserette. I don't recall if the 250s were plated.

I can imagine the insurance rates if the bikes were being used by learners on public roads. Private property would be different.

I thought Humber did M2 exits.

Not sure Humber is still around, many colleges packed it up at Covid.

M1-M2 is all done on private property so insurance requirements are probably much simpler / cheaper than the M2-M which is all done on public roads with actual real road users…not just cones.
Insurance underwriters must get together and tell stories about their insurance requests.

For a school, instead of a vehicle that was only driven by granny to church it's "Only driven by relatively inexperienced young testosterone junkies for the first time in Toronto traffic.
