I'm a member of the Ryerson Aero Design team... we basically make a big R/C plane for an international SAE competition. We were trying out a new wing design on one of our test flights and one of them snapped off. Lucky we decided to strap my Contour GPS to the fuselage, we got some interesting video.
The wing snaps off at about 39 seconds, and its still recording when we pick it up at the end. No waterproof case or anything, just the bare camera.

This year the plane is about 12 ft x 5 ft x 1.5 ft total dimensions, and it had a payload of about 10lbs of metal right near the camera.
