Condo giving my bike the boot

So my condo board has given me til the end of the month to remove my bike from the space in front of my car... guess I won't be riding much this year :(. Now I dont know if I should keep it and leave it at a friends place to ride rarely or just sell it and cry my way though this summer.
Anyone else have to deal with their condo like this?

Can you rent a spot for it? My condo has no issues with this.

Sell your car. I lucked out with my building, I usually have 1 car + 1 bike on weekdays and bike+car+bike sandwich on weekends.

Trust me. Riding rarely is better than not being able to. I guess it would also depend on how far your buddy's place is that you would be leaving it at. Stupid condo boards.

What sushi said, rent another spot

Make them a offer they can't refuse.

put the bike behind the car, instead of in front of it....

but really what is up with that, what provision do they have, is there something in the condo rules and regulations, that you cannot have your bike down there with your car, your not using up another spot, more room, it's all still within your own spot is it not ?

Curious, as I used to live in a condo, and we had no such rules, your parking spot had to be kept clean, but we had people with bikes, and motorbikes, and even a boat in one of the spots

never an issue

Some condos have a rule where only one vehicle is allowed for one parking spot.

Yep, one vehicle per spot.... which is retarded and completely inefficient in a case like this. The only justification is a fire issue, but even that makes no sense... big deal, a bike with 15L of gas is parked in front of a car with upwards of 100L in the tank? Blithering idiots.

Man, just sell of your condo and find a better place, where ppl are more friendly to our two-wheel friends:D

Normally, I would agree with opinions posted here, but it's likely the OP knew (or should have known) beforehand that there was only one vehicle per spot allowed and chose to ignore it.

It's the same thing at my condo -- however, so far I have not been told to move my bike. If and when that happens, I am prepared to rent an additional spot for it (as it so happens, there are motorcycle-only spots available for cheaper).

If you don't like it, why not make a motion at the monthly condo board meeting to amend the rules in order to allow 1 car + 1 bike? I don't know what would be involved in that (or whether it would even pass), but it's worth a try at least.

Alternatively, if not all spots are owned by residents, suggest that some of the spots be divided into smaller ones that are motorcycle-specific? That way, monthly parking spot rent would be cheaper.

Depends on the condo board and the residents - whether they are complainers. I specifically purchased my place (a co-op) becuase I saw bikes and cars sharing a parking spot, small bbqs on the balconies, floor mats and art in the hallways, all not permitted according to the co-op bylaws but it's a live and let live place - I like that vibe. You may have a chill condo board but all you need is one complainer to enforce the "rules". We have 32 units so less chance of a bitchy complainer - some just complain becuase their lives are so empty - it's something to do.

EDIT: Usual rule is one vehicle per parking spot and bike + car = 2 vehicles. Stupid rule IMO.

Just imagine how big of a pathetic douche you'd have to be to complain about a bike being parked with a car. It's ridiculous.

Sell your car and buy a beat up Astro van. Put the bike inside the Astro Van. Done.

That's kind of smart actually.. don't have to worry too much about it getting stolen too!

The people on Condo admin boards are the worst type of stuck up person you will ever meet.
You know the ones, everything they do is perfect and we should all follow their example, or else.

What ever happened to efficiency? If 2 smart cars would fit in one spot, why wouldn't they allow it?
The way i see it, if it fits within the painted lines of my space, go find something else to knit-pick on!! Idiots!!

You should buy a giant, rusty 1977 Lincoln Town car and park it in your spot.
