My wife wants to buy some tix for a concert which is rather expensive one for good seats. She saw that there are some online resellers who have some good seats at more affordable prices, but isn't sure which resellers are reputable. This particular show happens to be at Massey Hall.

I always buy from the box office or from the venue, but in this case they have only single seats in her desired seating areas.

Any suggestions for which resellers are reputable?

Thanks!
Shane

Not a direct answer but;

Redflagdeals.com has a tickets section.

Keep your eyes out for last minute ‘can’t make the venue/game tonight’. Can get stuff at steep discounts.

I have used stubhub , but it was never cheap.

who does she want to see, ?
She wants to take a teenager to see Olivia Rodrigo, because that is one of this girls favourite singers.

I think she said it would be around $1400 for the 3 of us to go and I said, I saw bikes in the reasonably priced thread for cheaper, so better shop around lol

The ticket game is massively fixed by the big players. Ticketmaster are a bunch of fuckers. I’ve had luck before with rechecking the concert site regularly and snagged some returned or re-released seats but aside from that I refuse to use resellers as that just fuels the fixed system.

Agreed and it's why I usually will try to buy direct from the venue.

My wife was mentioning buying from TickPick, which seems legit from reviews and has multiple seats selections available and is also cheaper, but I haven't looked at it myself.

For real. I could ride to Deals Gap and back while staying in motels for a week for the same price.

There’s a full-blown industry of parasites with bots that purchase tickets (and other items) before you or I ever could. They are obviously the issue but the main real issue is that no-one seems to want to clamp down on that. Add to that that ticketmaster has it’s own (premium price) reselling arm which is a direct conflict of interest. Makes me hopping mad. I love concerts but I also hate being gouged.

Agree. The last time I gave those *(&^(*^(*& any money was for some horse circus thing in the portlands (Cavilho?). They tacked on a parking charge which turned out to be free toronto street parking that they coned off and charged people something like $50 to use (none of which went to Toronto and IIRC Toronto gave them a token fine when they should have fined them an order of magnitude more than they collected as a painful lesson). I worked enough concerts in a past life, I have no interest in paying to watch from far away (nor paying $1500 to watch a pop act). To get me to pay, I either need to know and like you or you need to have serious musical/entertainment chops.

Good luck SK. Ultimately it comes down to how badly you want to go. If you are seeing $1400, I doubt you will find $300 anywhere. How much work do you want to put in to try to save a few hundred?

I'd take a kid to a pop act to give them a cool experience, but not for that price. Believe me!
We have her top 5 list of favourite artists and my suggestion is work our way down the list.

I'd rather take her to see something that will enrich her like a roots reggae show or a tabla concert or something like that... but it's me and against 2, so I go with the flow...

Edit: OMG ticketmaster is asking $750each for the standing tix in front of the stage. General Admission. Who pays that?

Rich parents. Sadly, the top few percent can buy up all the tickets (and often don't bother attending). Like all the empty expensive seats at leafs games. Profitable business, crap for fans. My old boss use to fund her daughters everything. Plane/train tickets, hotels, festival tickets etc. A single weekend where cost exceeded the daughters legitimate income for the year. Happened multiple times a year and about one concert a month in Toronto.

I like your position of expanding her mind and watching something cool. I understand the kids desire to watch something popular. I have driven to Detroit and chicago (Victor Wooten, beyond amazing) before to watch people that I wanted to see but couldn't in canada. Actually, can you cross the border with the kid? It is often cheaper to buy tickets in Buffalo even after you include mileage and a hotel.
