I stumbled (pun) upon this comprehensive and (apparently) methodologically sound study on European motorcycle crashes. Maybe its old news to this site but I did a search and came up dry.
here's the link to the executive summary if you don't want to register for the full report

i found it interesting but its not every ones idea of a beach read.
cargo
(the biggest shocker - to me- was the relative scarcity of red wine in french riders lol)

Thanks

I downloaded it and -Wow - it's pretty dense. Will take me a while to sift through :)

Thanks for the links Koma - much kinder on the brain :)

bikesafer interprets speed as being a factor whereas motorcyclistonline says speed is not a factor. Always interesting to see what happens to results subject to interpretation.

You sure?
Bikesafer quote: "Speeding is still not a major factor, which relates to the previous point."
(emphasis mine)

But yeah, interpretation is always a fickle thing.

Oops my bad, you're right, I misread it.

^ also 'speeding' may not be the same thing as 'speed'. I interpret speeding as to be 'over the speed limit.'
