Completing m2 exit test early?

I've had my m2 license for about a year. I know you must wait 18-22 months to upgrade to M. Question is, can I take an m2 exit COURSE early, hang on to the papers if I pass the test, then turn them in to MTO after the required 18-22 months have passed?

That's basically what I was able to do for the m1 exit, just wondering if this works the same way. Thanks for any input.

http://www.motorcyclecourse.com/m2x.html " (your paperwork must be presented to the DriveTest Centre within 6 months) "

This website says that the paperwork has to be presented to the drivetest centre within 6 months. The motorcycle handbook clearly states "Level Two lasts a minimum of 22 months from the day you obtain your M2 license . Or 18 months if you did the safety course. It is really weird... I will have 18 months on my M2 in November. It would be awesome to do the test in August-ish timeframe, then hand-in the paperwork to the drivetest center in November. Got to call drivetest centre or Humber/centennial/etc to confirm this.

Whats the rush? It's not like you gain any benefits, other than being able to have a drink before going riding. And considering the new BAC 0.05 nonsense you more or less can't drink anyways.

He doesn't want to take the test in crap weather.

When I asked this question back..... almost 10 years ago, the answer was NO. I actually had the test booked and thought it was OK to go a few weeks early and just wait for the 18 months to show up, then hand in my results, but NOPE....not the case. Luckily I actually happened to be OK once I took a closer look at the calendar. I managed to get 18 months in by a couple of DAYS!!!! Talk about cutting it close.... sheesh.

Personally, I just want to get my M and not wait to do it for another several months (winter). I don't drink and ride anyway, so no benefits there.

EDIT: Just got a message from Humber instructor... The M2 exit is a road test and you have to wait 18 months from when you get your M2. :(

18 months is the minimum (if he took a course, 22mo otherwise) but the M2 won't expire for 5 years (someone correct me if this rule has also changed). So if he doesn't wanna take it in crap weather he can wait till next summer, or the summer after, or the one after.

The 18 months doesn't mean much.
If you were in a big hurry you'd get the m1 in Dec., m2 in Mar., and do the exit a year from Sept.
You'd be doing both tests in sketchy weather then.
It's just easier to do them both in nice weather.

Thanks for the replies. There is definitely no rush, I figured having an M license might reduce insurance costs a little, so why not just get her done sooner than later if I'm able to. If I have to wait, it's not a big deal.

actually with the new rules in regards to points and novice/hybrid drivers there is a benefit in case you should have some bad luck.

Keep in mind that you are still within the restrictions of an M2 untill those papers and handed in to the ministry.
Cops don't give a D@mn if you show them the paperwork from your M2X test.
