Hi guys

what a day but to the point: can I get a ticket after leaving the collision center without one?

details:

-i hit hit a car from behind
-wet conditions and I had a spare on due to a flat two days ago
-still my fault of course
-I went to the collision center, provided details, and left
-other person hadn't arrived yet
-can they still issue a ticket?

Couldn't have happened at a worse time as I'm going on holidays in 3 days argh :*(

nonetheless any any help and insight you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated!

thanks and drive safe!

They couldn't issue a ticket prior to the investigation being done (the other driver / witnesses(es) coming in and providing statement(s)).

They have 6 months to lay a charge under the HTA; 30 days with a PON (ticket) and anytime up to the 6 months by way of a summons (you goto court).

Yes, you go to the collision centre so they can investigate and determine who is at fault. They will straight up ask you if there was anything you could have done to avoid it and if you said anything other than no, you've just admitted guilt.

can It happen - yes but it does not happen very often. will happen if the officer went to the scene when you first had a collision.

Not true. In most jurisdictions a collision will result in a charge in almost all cases.

Most of the CRC reports that I see (and I see a lot of the damn things) don't result in charges. If there is an on-scene report completed by a PC than you can bet you're going to get a ticket for something, but it doesn't seem to be nearly as common at the CRCs. 'Can' they give you a ticket tho? Absolutely!
