I have $468.99 sitting in my Westjet travel bank that expires Jan. 6 2024.
They where left over from an aborted trip to Europe in 2019 due to Covid.
The balance has been extended twice already and it's use or loose time.
The $468.99 can be used to book a flight up until late Nov. 2024 but the flight must be booked by Jan. 6 2024.
After serious consideration I have decided that there is no way for me to use the funds
other than booking a flight I will never take.
I really hate the thought of the money going to Onix Corp revenue.
The 2 options left are to book a flight in someone else name or
transfer the funds to someone else Westjet account.
To check the legality of this just go to westjet.com
What I propose is for members to make an offer with the first $100.00 going to support of GTAMotorcycle.com
A decision will be made by Dec. 31 to allow time to book.
Check out riders-share.com for bike rentals.

That’s a fantastic offer and good on you! When we had the same, I just bought a ticket for someone else (MIL) to travel to Europe on our dime as we’d lose 30% if we took the voucher.

Merry Christmas!

Everybody I know is over 70 and would rather take a bus trip!!!

That's my feelings about flying out of Pearson!!

Why now just book a ***** and giggles trip somewhere and rent a bike and go enjoy yourself? I just got back from Vegas last weekend and not being on 2 wheels pained me a lot of the time as the scenery and some of the roads were amazing. Temps in the desert were extremely comfortable when we were there, a bit on the chillly side perhaps, but in another month or two they'd be just about perfect, before getting too overwhelmingly hot.

Even if you skip the bike thing, there's a lot of places that $450 will take you right now - we flew to Vegas and back for $168. On Flair vs Westjet, sure, but there's some good deals to be had right now on airfares across the board.

Fly to Texas, have a nice steak dinner and fly home. Good story and delicious meal.

It's so easy to spend someone else's money.
The air fare is the cheapest part of any trip.
I have looked at plenty of options and can not justify spending another $2500.00 to save $450.00

Preface: I pride myself in being frugal, not because I need to be, but because I don't like wasting money - IE I'd rather do 2 trips instead of one really fancy one, more or less.

So....I stayed at the Rio in Vegas last week for just a smidgeon over $125/night, Canadian. Got a nice rental car for $20/day, $120USD after all the fees etc, but still, no complaints for the week. Spent $60 on gas. About $10 on taking the city bus up and down the strip a few times. We walked a LOT to and from all the touristy stuff on the strip when we didn't want to pay parking, I think we did around 40km on foot last I looked on my Apple Watch logs. We did pay $18 for parking one day at the Luxor. We ate frugally, MickeyD's breakfasts most mornings so we could just get going, ate at Golden Corral for dinner once (if you know, you know lol), and otherwise we were frugal by choice, not by necessity.

I think the entire trip, when I split it with the family member I'd travelled with (my wife had to work unfortunately so couldn't come) cost me about $800 for the week, including the airfare. It would have been $125 less had we decided to not splurge on going to see the show at the Sphere, but it was one of those things that we were there and it looked pretty epic - it was interesting for sure and certainly an experience like no other, but disappointing in other ways - glad we went, but would never go again at the price we paid, it was nuts for what it was in the end.

So, I'm just saying....you don't need to spend $2500 to go somewhere for a week. ;)

Meanwhile my sister and cousins flew to Vegas for 5 days, spent their nights on the strip, and came home after spending 5-7k CAD there.

They spent $700 USD for a rooftop cabana because ‘famous people are known to hang out there’ with all you can drink included.

We didn’t go when we heard their plans of renting a Bentley to go to the Grand Canyon, and $500/meal/couple restaurants.

Not for my wallet, and I know my cousins don’t make the same type of money my BIL makes…so someone HELOC’d that trip.

But….’it was the most fun trip we ever took’ is the descriptor that is used often. I’m a bit jealous in all honesty.

Flight round trip to Vegas with seat upgrades and luggage will use most of the the $468.99
I am looking at about 10-14 days.
I have been in Las Vegas before and it was better when the Mob ran things.
6 hours from me leaving home in Kingston to wheels up!
Because I am not staying in one location accomadations will be about $1200.00
Motorcycle rental will come to $800.00
Long term parking at Pearson $200.00
Food, gas and park entrance/site fees will take up the rest.

I guess it all depends on ones definition of fun.
I could care less about rolling in a Bentley or dinning at $500/meal restaurants.

I prefer experiences or should I say adventurous activities over dinning with the rich and famous. BTW, famous people could care less about your sitting next to them in a rooftop cabana.

For me it is about back road traveling on a motorcycle.
Las Vegas is only where the plane lands.

chiming in as i play a bit in the CC points and travel game... something to consider is to book the cheapest refundable ticket you can to use the credit, wait some time and then cancel, and apparently you have another year to think about it

Been There Done That!!
This saga goes back to 2018 with 3 extensions already.
I have been advised its use it or loose it time.

West Jet's Route Map might help some people out. This shows where they fly to direct, and if you punch in Toronto as your origin, should give you an idea of whatyou might expect to pay:

7k, for vegas?.

LOL

With Westjet I find the best prices are for booking 3 months ahead and be flexible on what days you fly.
I ignore the sales because you can usually get better prices.
The prices can change from one day until the next so you have to check prices daily.
Someties there are deals 30 days or 5 days ahead of flight but depends on number of seats sold so its hard to book accommodations.
There are some advantages of being retired.
