I remember that my jaw dropped the first time I saw the 900. I was in high school, and a fellow student, (a junior hockey player who had been given a signing bonus by an nhl team), rode into the school parking lot with it.

a couple or few years before that when I was still in elementary school, an older brother of one of my friends had a Kawasaki 500 triple 2 stroke. He'd ride it in front of our school pulling a wheelie for 100-200 meters.

I rode one for 10 + years. It's amazing now how 85hp could BLOW your mind. I like looking at the Laverda way more.

I still kick myself for passing on a used Laverda Jota that was for sale at McBrides in '82.
A great sound to go along with the good looks.
Ended up with Honda fever instead.

Not that it's quite as "classic" as some posted in here but I missed out on a decent looking 91 ZX7 that sold on Kijiii for $200.

$200!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought one of these new in 1981

I had one of those,it was the Hyabusa of its day.I remember seeing Art Robbins race one of these in amateur super bike at Shannonville.Back then they let the top ameteur racers run in pro super bike to fill the grid.I remember Robbins on a basically stock red 1980 GS1100 giving Lange Hindle (on a totally done KZ1000) a run for his money and coming in second.

A 1980 Suzuki GS650 got me back into motorcycling about 20 years ago, (after riding a 175 Honda twin in high school 40 years ago.) Then came an airhead, then another airhead, then my current cb750, all of the same vintage.

Got one of these in my garage with a set of 4 into 1 Vance and Suzuki-GS750-1.jpg

Yikes! The wheels are worth that.
Besides, the early ZX7 is your retro bike porn huh?
