Checking rotors and rims runout

Not that I need to do this right now, but was wondering if this is the tool that can be used to check runout: Machinist's Dial Indicator

Also, do you know where this can be bought locally? I searched CT, Princess auto - didn't find anything. Maybe it goes by another name?

Any tips on how to anchor it in order to check rotors and wheels?

You will need the magnetic mount that goes with it.

That will work, and yes, you'll need a stand. If you have bike stands that will lift the wheels off the ground nad you can check them on the bike.

THe whole set-up is on sale (locally) at KBC tools for $30.

Here is my setup, you don't need to shell out the big bucks for brand names like Mitutoyo but I use them for work so I need the good stuff. I think you could get the cheaper brand stuff for well under $100 for dial gauge and magnetic base with the arm. KBC tools has a lot of cheaper options even off shore brands that are really cheap....
