Hey Folks

My band Nomadic Sound Division has been playing around Toronto for the last year. We're going to record a full length this December. In the mean time you can check out our myspace (http://myspace.com/nomadicsounddivision) to get your fill of Nomadic Sound Division.

We are a 3 piece instrumental post-rock group.

We'd love to hear critiques, we got thick skin, but "this sucks" isn't very helpful ;)

haha I swear I'm not a hipster . . . I do wear horn rimmed glasses and play in a band . .. DAMNIT

Post-rock music basically uses many of the elements of good ol rock and roll, so rock beats/rhythms, rock scales lick, generally a rock sound etc, but the elements are put together a little more creatively. So we usually, not always, try and stay away from verse/chorus structures and generally try for more intricate arrangements.

Marilyn Manson?? Not sure what you mean. There are many atheist musicians as far as I know.

Definitely hear the Mars Volta influence, nice layering. And... Squid Sandwich actually reminded me of a Sea and Cake song.
 
Not bad. I like the sound, would totally listen to it. I don't go out to many shows, but if you were playing at a bar where I was drinking, I'd be happy to hear you rather than many other bands that are out there. Very listenable and shows a lot of different influences.

My advice to you, if you're not already 100% committed to it, is to change the name. It sounds a bit to derivative, like "Bedouin Sound Clash" or something like that. I think it's the kind of name that will fade into the background and not be very memorable to people. It also, to me, doesn't really represent what you sound like. I was expecting more of a "world music" kind of sound, with a name like that. Do some brainstorming and throw out a bunch of words that come to mind when you listen to your music. I think you'd end up with a stronger name. When I listen to your music, I don't think of words like "Nomadic" "Sound" or "Division".

I hope your skin is thick enough to take this - you guys seem to be working hard at this thing, keep it up.

My mom is on this forum, but I doubt she'd care, she's been wanting to take me to clubs and bars with her since I was 16
