Charlotte and I go West

Friday Day 16
Hey all.
I’m in Fort Frances Ontario.
Here is today’s route.
Trans-Canada Hwy to Trans-Canada Hwy
Just a short day today and I needed it after coming back across the Prairies.
I’m watching the weather and am hoping to make it to Thunder Bay tomorrow and SSM on Sunday.
We are getting to the end of this journey and that saddens me.
But I have enjoyed every mile.
Not many picks today but had a lovely roadside picnic.
Thanks Shane for the route here to Fort Frances.
Nice little town.

does Ft. Frances still smell like dirty diapers? - paper mill

the ride east on #11 out of there is fun
lots of stretches to let the bike feel her legs

at the end of 11 where it meets 17 is a little gas station/variety store
also an excellent little BBQ shack, good spot for lunch
 
Paper mill yup...thanfully I'm upwind of it

Hope it's cooler for you up there. going to feels like 36 today. Lake Superior should be good for some cooler riding

I'm in Thunder Bay heading to SSM tomorrow trying to leave here about 8am-ish

I'm solo. I tried to keep my eye out for that sexy lady in red (aka Charlotte) to introduce her to the Dark Side, but it didn't happen.

Just arrived into Kenora. What a beautiful day!
 
Hey all
I'm in SSM for a couple days visiting family.
Shane I think you prolly made it through Thunder Bay before I got through.
Have a safe trip man...I found the last few days there hasn't been that many bugs at all compared to when I went west.
 
Good idea to break in SSM ...I always found that last stretch home a drag.

Great Fish & Chips ..including whitefish and pickerel just north of Parry Sound.. Few KM off the highway...you will see the sign heading south before the turn off.

Hey all I’m home.
Ive had a good nights sleep in my own bed.
Hands are still a little sore from the ride home from SSM but I feel pretty good.
First thing I did today was go get tested.
I should have results later today / tomorrow.

So let me throw some figures at you.
595 + 1031 + 1010 + 855 = 3,491 kms
That’s what it took me to get from Kitchener to BC in 4 days.
10,719 kms that was the total trip in 20 days

Some things of note…
Hotel / motel Grab and Go Breakfast…I love this idea and hope they keep it.
I would much rather have my breakfast and hour down the road in a beautiful picnic area.

Working on the road…this turned out to be relatively easy.
I had everything I needed and was able to communicate well with everyone at work.

Time Change…this kicked my ass.
I found myself in Cashe Creek and other places wide awake at 4am.
Ugggggggg

Rain…in 20 days I had a total of 25mins of rain
15 mins on the Icefield Pkwy and 10 mins coming home from SSM.
It wasn’t hard rain and it didn’t last long.
I was really lucky with weather.
No crazy wind and not freakishly hot.

Charlotte…she ran like a champ with no issues at all.
She turned over 100,000 kms near Thessalon On

Bikes…from what I saw there’s a steady stream of bikes going west.
Enjoy yourselves and stay safe.
