changing license question

Nope. You started from scratch when your M1 expired, you'll have to wait the 60 days again.

Thats weird cause when I passed my m1 test the girl said i can come in when i get my m2 envelope from the school just wanted to confirm thanks.

I might be wrong. I've always been under the impression that if your novice licence expires, you start from scratch.

The information provided on this page is a bit confusing though: http://www.ontario.ca/driving-and-roads/what-happens-if-ive-let-my-drivers-licence-expire

If you took your G1, M1 or M1-L within a year before your licence was due to expire you may pay a $75 licensing fee at a at a DriveTest Centre to receive a G2, M2 or M2-L licence valid for five years but you must do this before your licence expires.

If your novice licence has been invalid (expired/cancelled/suspended) for up to three years:

You may reapply for a new novice licence at the same level (G1 or G2, for example) as your expired licence and you will not have to serve the mandatory waiting period.

Best way to find out would probably be to go to a DriveTest center.

The MTO should have record of your previous M1 in their system. You won't have to wait. Just ask the person behind the desk if they can check the system to see if your previous M1 is listed before you hand over the envelope. The last thing you want is them opening it up early and telling you the paperwork is now useless because they don't have record of your previous M1.

As long as you've held your M1 previously you do NOT need to wait the 60 days. You can get your M1 and hand in the M2 paper as soon as you have it.

^+1

I was in the same situation before. My M1 had expired, I got it back the following yr completed the rider's training course and I did not have to wait the 60 days to get my M2.
