Chain cleaning question...

I searched but didn't find this exact issue.

Once you clean your chain, you need to warm it up before lubing. Do you actually ride the bike after cleaning it? Would that cause any harm to the chain, pre-lube?

I usually warm up my chain before I clean it, then I can just lube it when I'm done. But depends what type of cleaner you are using. If you are using a Kerosene based cleaner then I would lube it before I took it for a spin.

If you rode the bike for 10 minutes or so after cleaning the chain it would warm up the chain enough to allow the lubricant to adequately penetrate. A 10 minute ride to warm the chain after cleaning would not be long enough to cause any harm or damage to the chain so you should be fine. I've been riding 24 years using this process with much success and have had long chain life.

Cheers
